Hot and Cold Higgins
Today he was woeful- fluffed 3 opportunities and looked all over the place
Some days he’s dangerous- other days he’s all over the shop
Obviously a confidence player - playing a tough position - but he needs to close the gap on his performances
Because when he’s not on, he’s a liability
His missed goal today - should have iced the game, but rather kept them interested - just wasn’t thinking clearly all day

Re: Hot and Cold Higgins
King is also a player who plays the game between his ears
Barass dominated him today - and his body language is poor when he’s not dominating

Higgins needs a kick up the arse!
Maybe he needs to be dropped for peris just a little wake up call ala milney and dal style.

Re: Hot and Cold Higgins
He dropped a mark today that he should have taken, but the most damning thing is that he misses regulation shots from 10 metres out that he is expected to kick.
Higgins leads for the footy when he should be a decoy or just play his role front and centre.
Last week he was competing with the talls for marks inside 50. He is a passenger more often than not. Sorry, No way I would call him a gun.

Leading goal kicker this year with 27, plus 90 score involvements, yeah he's a passenger!!Scollop wrote: ↑Mon 03 Jul 2023 7:29am He dropped a mark today that he should have taken, but the most damning thing is that he misses regulation shots from 10 metres out that he is expected to kick.

Caminiti (the rookie) or King who missed half a year?
Or maybe a backman like Wilkie or how about Wood or how about someone that plays at half forward? Like Owens maybe who plays second ruck...or Did you expect Pou (an 18 year old who plays as a mid half the time)?
He enjoys the spoils from work up the ground

Guns misfire a lot, also a round gets jammed in the chamber, the magazine is empty.
He hits the target only sporadically

Re: Hot and Cold Higgins
Sure.
Peris is a world beater, no doubt. Was named as an emergency. Higgins has kicked 27 goals this season. Peris has had at least 27 kicks for Sandringham this season. Like for like. Peris would have the Demons shaking in their boots, wouldn't he?

Re: Hot and Cold Higgins
Thinks he is 10cm taller than he is, and thinks he can kick 15m further than he can.
Aside from this, Higgins is an important part of our side.
Needs to find a way to impact the game differently when he's having a poor one. He is not a lead up or KPF.

He's a bloody good player. Stop shitting on him.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Yes, he can be good…. And also no good
He was poor yesterday
He was off with decision making he was off with execution
He is inconsistent therefore unreliable

No
Billings
However, I wouldn’t replace Higgins
I’d play Billings at HF
And move Hill to the wing

Re: Hot and Cold Higgins
So are you dropping Snags from the team? I would. Play Butts and Gresh and give Billings a run.
Just give him a week off. No Sandringham game required. Just ask Higgo to do 30km in running over the Sat/Sun.
The coach probably disagrees and Higgins kicks 1 goal against Melbourne and retains his spot in the team

Re: Hot and Cold Higgins
More small forwards isn't the answer.
Need players with better decision making and footskills to enter 50. That's where Billings comes in.
If you're playing the best 22, that puts Philppou out of the side.

Re: Hot and Cold Higgins
Higgins is good with the ball, but doesn't work very hard off the ball. Sure he is our leading goal kicker, but in recent weeks he, Gresh and King have been playing selfish footy- when they lose control of the ball, the second efforts are not great. I think a combined triple kick up the bum will fix it.

Keep Gresh and trade Higgins?

Re: Hot and Cold Higgins
Yeah…not a bad idea…but there’d be a couple of provisos for the player who comes in
We used to get a few players from SA but now that we don’t have Gags…
Who ever we trade in has to have a picture of himself in a Saints jumper as a child, they need to have a clean bedroom, or they need to have grown up or gone to school in one of the bayside suburbs That’s the criteria St Kilda uses to recruit footballers
