Got to say, probably the most bizarre Test I’ve ever seen.

Momentum swings, collapses, bizarre bowling tactics both good and bad, dismissals and non dismissals, injuries, Stokes again…

Tho the Poms always find something to whinge about and appear to have very short memories!

You would have thought seeing both the Saints and Aussies get up would make for a pleasant evening… ha.

The two controversial decisions by the third umpire showed that the letter of the law is not always the spirit of the game. The third umpire had little option but to give the first not out and the second as out. It was clear Starc had taken the catch cleanly and used the ball to cushion his fall rather than the back of his hand to avoid injury. It was equally clear that Bairstow thought the ball was dead and wasn't trying to take a run.

My take:

- Starc’s catch 99% out in park level cricket where there’s no cameras and no one would argue it.
Clean catch, but you can’t put the ball on the ground, you are taught to try and roll as a junior. So based on that it’s 50/50 as to whether ‘control’ was attained. If you slide like that into the rope it’s 4, do no issue with that.

- Unless over was called, it’s out. Not even an argument.
Stokes, Mccullum and the great unwashed can sook all they like about it. Amateur hour.
Perhaps Bairstow should worry more about his keeping and the 30 byes old symbols let through for the game.

Yep, there are a few videos going around showing Bairstow trying to do the exact same against Labuschagne AND McCullum doing the exact same thing in his NZ days.
