Lol
Here we go
Coaches don’t matter …but we’re atrocious and cost us the game ??
How about the C grade midfield in Q2 or Benny Hill full back gifting goals…
Yeah…you can coach for that shyte effort on field
Not.

It's blatantly obvious we had poor leadership from our senior players out there when it mattered, unlike Richmond.
We have some senior players that are simply not good enough and have to make way for new blood, otherwise we're going to continue to just make up the numbers.

There’s a lot of the Godard’s about him. Except Goddard was pretty much the best player in the comp in 2010.
Howard isn’t in the top 150

6 day break v 7 day break plus leg weary from the slog tonight. Not sure we can back up but I hope I'm wrong.Teflon wrote: ↑Sat 17 Jun 2023 11:13pmI agreedesertsaint wrote: ↑Sat 17 Jun 2023 11:12pm tigers were always likelier given the occasion. not a bad loss given we fought back into it. good signs.

A leader getting subbed out for a fringe medium is embarrassing for Howard

Re: Match Thread Round 14 2023 V Richmond
How how many times did you see Richmond slice us up with handball and run and precision disposal
No fumbling
We just vomit.out.of stoppage (haha...that should be 'bomb it's)
We just bomb It out Of defence
We bomb it into the forward line
We lack polish and connection
We lack a Taranto or a Prestia
We lack a good tap ruck like Nank
We lack another class backman like Grimes
I go back to what Ross said at the start of the year
He said it was going to be a year of exploration
Tonight's conditions could have been perfect for Bytel. Same with a tough nut like Highmore. I also think we've got to play Sharman more.
We needed to mix things up from the word go instead of Ross and the club getting sucked in by the early wins.
It ends up costing us again for the long term

Thought it was a finals like game.
Tells you how we’d go if we made it to September.
As an aside, Trent Crotchin is such an unlikeable bloke.

What is really obvious is that the players that looked most comfortable in the heat were kids like Windhager Pou etc
Sinclair too but he’s a gun
Reality is it’s the new brigade that will take us to top 4
You can’t have a midfield go to sleep for a quarter…allow a 40 point turn around….then decide to play again …it’s just not good enough
Steele - needs to either rest forward or go out of the side clearly not right
Tigers mids got it done
Hit the draft get AA kids in…do it while King etc are young enough we’ll rise and not just for year
We are not seriously challenging anyone with this midfield
In finals heard we could be really embarrassed going awol for a quarter…
Howard Byrnes Ross Steele
We looked better with Sharman at FB FFS least he could punch the ball !!

Re: Match Thread Round 14 2023 V Richmond
Certainly was shocking. Offered nothing tonight and cost us a few goals too which hurt the team so badly in these conditions.
Watching a team that has won 3 premierships in the last 7 years want this win so badly and getting good service from most of their senior players, compared to ours, is such a kick in the guts .

We had a fantastic win last week - you don’t make 5 changes to the side off that ..that’s rubbishScollop wrote: ↑Sat 17 Jun 2023 11:19pm How how many times did you see Richmond slice us up with handball and run and precision disposal

It’s great 30 mins after the loss to be all arm chair expert but the logic in the side picked was sound
Even Steele looked better last week
Subbing Howard was good call
Windhager looked good tonight
Pou too
After tonight …it’s an opportunity to make some change
I still want to see Owens play as a mid
2nds were ordinary as well and I didn’t see Highmore star?
Agree Sharman needs a block of games

Re: Match Thread Round 14 2023 V Richmond
So if it’s a year of exploration why run a hobbled Steele into the ground, instead of resting him and seeing what our young potential mids can do in the middle?

Re: Match Thread Round 14 2023 V Richmond
What has Higgins brought to St Kilda?
Why do list managers and clubs go after a small forward when we already had Kent, Gresham, Billings and ....we had a gun small forward who we recruited to the Saints a year before Higgins arrived
Butler.
Compare Butler's game tonight to Higgins. Compare the run and carry by Butler and his workrate. 6 inside 50's from Butts. Only 2 from Snags

I tbink we’ve known since Rd 6 our midfield isn’t up to it
Don’t think you need a final’s pressure game to find that out
What it tells me is we are just making up numbers if we get there
We might get lucky…we might get pantsed …we’re flaky …
One tiny good sign…they didn’t give up …that’s useful going forward

Coaches don’t matter in your eyes now Teffers
Or is that only when we lose - then it’s the players?!
You flip flop
Only a few things a coach actually does that’s influential in games
Select the right team - fail
Orchestrate whether and where their is a spare - fail
Teams have worked us out - put speed on the ball movement and disrupt our zone
Good teams will beat us every time because we allow them to by the way we play

Dont disagree although Steele did ok last week and on that performance deserved to play ahead of a Bytelwhiskers3614 wrote: ↑Sat 17 Jun 2023 11:28pmSo if it’s a year of exploration why run a hobbled Steele into the ground, instead of resting him and seeing what our young potential mids can do in the middle?
Of tonight’s game? No
I think Lyon has shown he’s playing kids - Windhager Owens Pou Byrnes Sharman (he needs a go at it longer than sub) Caminiti
So I think he’s exploring
Don’t think he’s gonna throw the whole side out tho
He’s left out guys like Billing’s Membrey Paton for a reason..

Haha
Sharman need a block of games
He’s not up to it - not even sure what position he can play
Too small to play as a key - too slow and poor at ground level to be a medium

I notice your post count goes through the roof after a loss
When we win….you go awol
It’s classic cliched “captain hindsight” stuff with you
EVERYONE on this site and other sites I read knows the list has large holes ..namely midfield
But you come on after a loss …make out coaches have no influence….then proceed to tell us how they failed from the box…
Make up your mind genius
Oh ….and teams “with speed on the ball beat us” didn’t look like that in the 3rd quarter??
Teams whose midfielders don’t go missing for whole quarters will beat us..,,think you better start looking there …
I’m
Not st all phased by tonight’s loss
But if we win next make sure you show up ok?

The temerity for responding to one of the sites sages post and actually daring to talk footy
