Hypothetical but would we recruit Blues Silvani?
Silvani seems to be on the outer at Carlton. He’s in and out of the team and blues supporters always bagging him when they lose. A fresh start seems a possibility. I actually rate Jack so should we recruit him if he was seeking a new start elsewhere?

I think saints supporters view of him are inflated as he always seems to do well against us but other games I have seen him play he is almost unseen.

Re: Hypothetical but would we recruit Blues Silvani?
We’ve got a potential star medium-sized forward/half-forward in Owens and ok ones in Sharman and Membrey. Arguably Phillipou can also play there. If we genuinely want another one, I reckon Bergman has more upside in that role than Jack S.
So it’s a no from me.

Rather Stephen return at 56 than recruit his son.

My sole concern about Ross Lyon is Silvagni
He’s not set the world on fire re list building
Danger is he reverts to type and goes Carlton mad …if we pay overs aka 1st round picks for TDK (who I’m not convinced we need) then bring in jnr Silvagni ….I think we are heading wrong direction and will undo majority of good work this year
Chris Toce in recruitment looks to be astute on draft selection..let him weave his magic ..

Re: Hypothetical but would we recruit Blues Silvani?
The Blues CEO told SOS that he could no longer work at the Baggers due to a conflict of interest, as his 2 sons were playing.
SOS chucked his toys out of the cot at this slight.
He won't applaud when Jack kicks a goal. Jo S is on video jabbing him in the ribs after one goal.
Same C of I would apply with us.
Anyway, any time I've watched him, his second efforts are deplorable. He can give up a free for tripping.
He's another Zac Dawson

Re: Hypothetical but would we recruit Blues Silvani?
The TDK talk worries me as well. Seems like an okay but unremarkable ruck prospect who doesn't kick goals. We know that Marshall isn't great at being a dedicated forward so ideally the support we get for him can play mainly in attack. I don't mind Dow as a free hit but not keen on TDK if he comes with any significant price tag.Teflon wrote: ↑Wed 14 Jun 2023 10:37pm My sole concern about Ross Lyon is Silvagni

I like Jack’s intensity & second efforts & would’ve been interested 3 years ago but not now.
We’ve got to start being more strategic with our trading & continue to hit the draft!

What position does Jack play?
He’s a poor man’s Mitch Owens!

No. Takes a good mark occasionally and always tries hard but no added value for us. Would not be mentioned if his dad didn't work for us. Needs to maybe concentrate on male modelling or coaching. Seems to know footy but can't execute. Slow?

Only if he's a delisted free agent and ONLY if he comes as depth, in the knowledge that he will predominantly play at VFL level

Re: Hypothetical but would we recruit Blues Silvani?
That might come to fruition as he has been dropped again for this week.
But I don't agree with your notion that he would come only to play predominantly with Sandringham. He would only come if he was driven enough to break into the seniors and hold down a position. Similar, ultimately misguided, comments were made about Mason Wood when we recruited him. Plenty of eggs on faces now.

Re: Hypothetical but would we recruit Blues Silvani?
I think he’s an ok player and his problem is there doesn’t seem a permanent position at the blues for him, reminds me of our Battle a couple of years ago couldn’t settle into a spot.
Who would Silvani replace in our best 22 ?
Got enough depth need more starting 22
No from me

Re: Hypothetical but would we recruit Blues Silvani?
100% We need players in our current 22 to become the depth, not build depth from underneath them unless that depth is built from kids we draft.wally wrote: ↑Thu 15 Jun 2023 7:53pm I think he’s an ok player and his problem is there doesn’t seem a permanent position at the blues for him, reminds me of our Battle a couple of years ago couldn’t settle into a spot.

Re: Hypothetical but would we recruit Blues Silvani?
I'm surprised Carlton don't use him in the backline, he certainly has the right pedigree.
I've watched Jack through his junior years, since under 12's, and he's a decent kid, Certainly not arrogant.
And he's a real team player, is willing to play any role required - even undersized ruck. He does a lot of 1% ers, blocks, tackles and smart tap-on's. And he can kick a goal.
He's no Mitch Owens, but Owens is a potential superstar.
As much as I like Jack, I'm not sure we should have him at St Kilda with SOS, too much potential conflict of interest. I'm pretty sure that RTB has been a family friend of the Silvagni's for many years, since Jack was a kid. If he were a superstar I'd be keen, but as a possible fringe player, the conflict could be a bit destabilising.
Perhaps Jack would be best suited at Gold Coast or Sydney.

Did anyone seriously think he was ever leaving?
