Can't bump and can't tackle. Looks like it has to be touch rules.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: The tackle is dead.
yep .
hypothetical Question
you're playing Collingwood in the Prelim . 3/4 time the teams ten goals down .
Carlton won the night before to make the Grand final .
Someone in the match committee gets contacted by a blue bagger offering some of their famous brown paper bags , to players who act concussed after being tackle by some of Collingwoods better players .
If say four of our players unfortunately went down in the last with wobbily legs !
That would mean four Collingwood stars would have to miss the Grannie
A massive benefit to Carlton .

Re: The tackle is dead.
This was my objection when this whole malarkey started - I worded it though - if you were playing a team in the 2nd to last round and needed them to lose the following week to make finals - what would stop your 23rd player (or an injured player about to be rested) feigning concussion against say Dusty or Bont or Trac or Oliver etc and forcing them out for the next week.mr six o'clock wrote: ↑Fri 09 Jun 2023 9:21pm yep .

Re: The tackle is dead.
Clubs need to get together and stop this rubbish - should’ve been stopped ages ago
Threaten to boycott games, just do something to make the league flogs start worrying. Would love to see two teams just walk off the field after another s*** decision

Re: The tackle is dead.
The big issue, I think, is the arbitrary nature of the MRO decisions, it's subjective basis notwithstanding the pseudo science of the offence matrix, and clear bias towards treating certain clubs and players more favourably. It's a joke on most of the industry for no apparent benefit, ie what is the many suspensions suppose to achieve, behavioural change? personal penalty, team penalty, compensation to the opposition, revenue raising. I'd argue current system fails on all counts. In addition it has the accuser declaring a penalty and unilaterally declaring guilt, mitigating circumstances only seem to be submitted on appeal. There is also the fad effect where certain offences are the focus of hair trigger fault finding. Yes it's all a joke. If allowed unchecked court action by a finals club is inevitable.

Re: The tackle is dead.
The tackle is dead, long live the tickle (aka pressure act).
The corral is likely to replace both the tackle and the bump, the way things are going ...and "pressure acts" will be on every stat sheet, comprising closing acts, chasing acts and corraling.

Re: The tackle is dead.
New skill unlocked - get tackled - flop - hit head on ground - get free for dangerous tackle.

Player can now risk suspension for tackling a player who already has forward momentum.

Re: The tackle is dead.
They won’t because a lot of clubs are propped up by the AFL and won’t rattle the cage.
It’s why St Kilda never says anything and over the years take the cash to sell games (AFL no doubt told them to)
It’s why we should reduce debt and stand up on our feet and find a sustainable business model. If not then the cycle of getting trampled on continues. Stupidity to keep going round in circles.

Getting our own dedicated reserves team would be a nice start.Annoyedsaint wrote: ↑Sun 11 Jun 2023 9:51pmThey won’t because a lot of clubs are propped up by the AFL and won’t rattle the cage.

He'll get off according to Joey
I watched the replay on FoxFooty and if our legal team do not use the Leigh Montagna defence for Butler then the board of directors all need to stand down and resign

Gotta love casual homophobia when Sydney and St Kilda were celebrating pride and inclusion in that game!

No place for it at all.
It might have been mildly amusing 40 years ago, but it's not funny now.

Re: The tackle is dead.
Lol the bias in these footy shows is an utter disgrace
Jordan Lewis (up there with Dixon as some of the worst footy commentators get to around) suggest Sicily (who sling his man) had no choice in the matter ..
But he’s happy for Butler to be suspended??????
Something has to be done about blatant football bias in the media
Lewis is a **** head of the highest…
Booo hoo he flew to Sydney to present Buddy’s jumper …must’ve cried all night the flog
“Yeah….nah””
