Not that I want to get too far ahead of myself which I clearly am but to make Finals with 11 games to go ... and going by the current ladder ..... we probably need 5 more wins ..... 6 more wins guaranteed ..... likely need 8 to make top 4

WCE at Perth, should be an easy win

Return bouts vs Hawthorn and North which we made look way harder then they needed to be the first time

Gold Coast at Gold Coast is not the gimme it looked like a month ago

Then finishing the year with Carlton and Geelong at Marvel

We’ll learn a lot about ourselves I guess

After losing to Hawthorn I have no confidence going into any game, you have no idea what kind of performance is coming up.

BM the draft is already compromised with Harley Reid and Durrsma. There’s going to be a multiple club deal to see west coast split its picks. You would have to be bottom 5 to get in on that. No need to tank to get in on that.

Doing a conservative ladder prediction ... I reckon we could end either 5th or 7th if we win the games that we are expected to win. The two games against Richmond are hard to pick. Although I favour us. Unless we lose games against North, Hawks (again), Eagles ... could finish 8th at worst. Reckon Collingwood, Brisbane, Port, Melb will be the top 4. Geelong a definite in 8 and two others.

I predicted we’d win 13 games in the pre season, that would get us into the bottom part of the 8.
That Sydney win can’t be underestimated, lose that & we probably wouldn’t make finals.
We do need to start getting consecutive wins though!

Unpredictable is the right word.

Though it’s the same every week… this game against Richmond is seemingly the biggest of our season. Despite having a down year, Richmond are no push overs and will be a stern test for us.

At the G, would be a huge feather in the cap and send a strong message that we’re September bound

Interesting of our next 5 games we are only bookie favourites in one (WCE). Was pretty surprised by this. I think we can sneak into the 8; but at this stage I doubt we have the midfield personnel to compete in finals

Every game will be tough, we cant allow a lapse in effort as we had leading into the bye. We are the sort of club that will go to Perth and drop a game against WCE. They need to play consistent high energy football and hopefully we start to slowly inject some other important players leading up to the finals.

Sportsbet have us odds equivalent of 65% to make finals.

Like them or loath them the books are the sharpest in the business for a reason but you have to imagine this is based off early season form and strength of schedule on the way home - this week will give us a pretty good idea of where we're at given the Tigs are coming into some form and at their fortress (despite being 2-5-1 at the MCG this year).

Yes its a year of exploration as we all know, and I dont think it's the benchmark for 2023, but I think we'd generally be pretty disappointed to NOT make finals again now.
