Agreed. When was the last time we actually won an appeal? 2009?

A fundamental law of the game is tackling and it was picture perfect. Christian is a ********.
Suspended for being “too ruff”.
AFL is a big girls blouse sport these days.
It’s holding the ball in any era, except the current loser world we live in. Just sums up the shitshow it is where everything is backwards.
You can choose to be anything you want now!!!
Absolute clown world
Butler should identify as not guilty.
How dare anyone question it!

Re: Butler 1 week
On the video replay I watched at no time were Butlers arms above his victims shoulders thus high contact is ruled out. It was classed as medium impact which supports the no concussion outcome so now we are down to a footballer being hung, drawn and quartered for careless contact. This would suggest that round 14 of the AFL will be cancelled due to a lack of available players. What a joke.

I think they assess head contact with the ground as high contact.flack wrote: ↑Fri 09 Jun 2023 10:36pm On the video replay I watched at no time were Butlers arms above his victims shoulders thus high contact is ruled out. But high impact should be the guy is knocked out cold,
Medium impact should be the guy is concussed but not knocked out.
Light contact should be the guy is NOT concussed.
Careless contact at worst, high contact, light impact = play on

Seems that the ex filth player arranged the criteria so that he could rub Butler out. f****** disgraceful and shows that the AFL has no integrity left.ace wrote: ↑Fri 09 Jun 2023 10:48pmI think they assess head contact with the ground as high contact.flack wrote: ↑Fri 09 Jun 2023 10:36pm On the video replay I watched at no time were Butlers arms above his victims shoulders thus high contact is ruled out. Re: Butler 1 week
I think it had to be appealed…. even if it’s just to save the game.
It’s getting a bit silly
I thought the whole thing was all about sling tackling now downgraded to any sort of tackle where some poor buggers head hits the ground
Re: Butler 1 week
Does butler get a week because
A) afl thought blakey was potentially concussed even though he wasn't. Or
B) any tackle now where the player ends up hitting his head on the ground and goes off the ground for hia protocols is an automatic suspension for the tackler..
No slinging action
Its not rough conduct its just a tackle, end of story.

Re: Butler 1 week
A tackle - ridiculous. Blakey fell forward because he was running fast and Butler was too, to try to catch him.
He'll get off.
He'll get off.

Re: Butler 1 week
I suspect Christian is seeking brownie points for showing that he really cares about protecting the player's head, knowing full well that his decision is likely to be overturned on appeal, so no harm done. It's a case of what some people call "virtue signalling."

That could not be paid - what was it 50 out directly in front????
I wonder if there will be others this weekend that get paid as HTB???

Re: Butler 1 week
Another example of the MRO's incompetence. Honestly, Christian has made so many bad calls in the 5 years he's been in the job. How he has survived his appalling inconsistency and kept his job is beyond me.
A sling tackle is a sling tackle. Two motions, with the tackled player being driven into the turf (head first) with the second motion. Fair enough in that scenario for a player to be cited.
Butler's tackle does not fit the criterion. Simple as that.
If Butler's suspension stands, then what can any other player do in the same situation?
Where is the actual clarity around what a player can and cannot do?
If you make a rule from which suspensions apply you need to make it cut and dry with no ambiguity

If Butler cops a week then Sicily gets weeks for a very similar tackle on McCluggage

Re: Butler 1 week
Yep, if the AFL is saying Butler's tackle is worthy of a week because Blakey's head hit the turf (result: no concussion), then Sicily is facing weeks (result: concussion - McCluggage unavailable for "x" period).
I personally think both were football acts but the AFL & Christian have made their bed.

The MRP is Christian. He is an absolute knob jockey.
