Get f#### Stocker off

Post: # 2013434Post Long Term Injury »

Watching the replay and lip reading RTB at 5:06 left in the last, yells into the phone get Stocker off… heat of the moment, but obviously upset about structures behind the ball. My reading, if Steele didn’t make a last minute spoil swans were out and Stocker in no man’s land. Positional know how seems to be a common issue with him, although I like him as a back, good composure and kick. Thoughts?

I thought he had a good game. But yes Steele doing that spoil saved us the game.

Interesting observation. Yeah, he probably messed up, but I don’t think it’ll cost him a spot in the team. He’s been pretty consistent this year. He’s also a very good field kick. An excellent bargain basement pickup for the club. A bit like when we got Dylan Roberton as a delisted player.

I wonder if it happened more than once?

He was at something like 65% game time - down the last two games

Thought he had a good game, but good pick up.
Ross was not glowing in his praise for him in the GWS game either.

Maybe Coffield is in with a shot, (some day when he can get o the park)

If you ever need a lip reader, contact LTI.

Stocker, like all the others, was pretty good last night. I wouldn't put any weight on any snips and clips attributed to Ross about any player. The fact that Stocker has played every game and continues to make smart decisions suggests he is here to stay. I rate nick Coffield highly but he is still a while away. Just because Ratts played him on a HBF doesn't mean Ross will. Prior to getting injured I thought he was well and truly ready to spend more time in the midfield because of his strength.

Glad you picked up who he yelling about, i thought it might have been in reference to Caminiti, he only had 5 disposals but he had 7 tackles. He's good overhead but last night he had 0 marks.

Might need a spell at Sandy and let Cooper have a run.

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Honestly thought it was sharman?

Had a terrible 3 minutes of falling over/not being strong in the contest. Then got a timely goal.

Noticed that too. Wasn’t that in the presser? And he’s also made a point of saying he’s careful not to talk to players by way of press conferences! lol
Go figure!

Perhaps he wanted Liam Stocker off so that he could put Mitch Owens back there.

I think Coff should ultimately replace Webster. Realistically Coffield's 2024 is going to be a season of building faith in his body and trying to stay on the park, then in 2025 he hopefully hits his prime/peak performance.

2025 is when we'd hope to seriously have a crack at a flag. Here's how we shape up from the current list IMO

B: Stocker (25), Howard (29), Wilkie (29)
HB: Sinclair (30), Battle (26), Coffield (25)
C: Wood (31), Steele (29), NWM (22)
HF: Gresham (27), Caminiti (21), Phillipou (20)
F: Butler (29), King (24), Higgins (26)

Foll: Marshall (29), Crouch (31), Owens (21)
Int: Clark (26), Hill (31), Windhager (22), Sharman (24)

From memory that was the first time since he came back to Moorabbin that I've seen RL get really worked up in the box. Don't mind that to be honest and it was interesting to see him mention that his assistants talked him out of taking Stocker off.

Also amused to hear him tell that Lenny Hayes, who was back in Melbourne with some sort of bug, rang him at half time to put Windhager on Chad Warner, which he did, with good effect because it forced Longmire to switch Warner elsewhere.

Thought Marcus had quite a good game, he may not have racked up many possessions but was accountable and should hold his spot against Richmond.

I quite like the look if this.

Assuming we're able to add 2 or 3 via free agency and 2 more first round draft picks this looks quite strong.

Worth mentioning this side could also include, Heath, Keeler and Hotton too.
