Re: Changes for next week
The coach and match committee are playing our best 22. That's the team they drew up at the start of the year and Unless they are injured or suspended all 22 get a game each and every week

Re: Changes for next week
Surely they pick the best team based on who’s available and who we are playing. As better players become available either through recovery from injury or form improvement you make changes.

Re: Changes for next week
Selection Integrity means you play Cordy for 3 weeks in a row and he's subbed out because he can't get a kick but you try him one more week
Selection Integrity means you play Bytel as the sub 3 weeks in a row even though Crouch is poor for 2-3 weeks and Seb is poor for 2 weeks...even though Bytel can play their role and he was in hot form with 40 touches in the VFL
The narrative could be that Bytel needs more game time so they'll play him at VFL level for a full game next week
I'm tipping Sharman and possibly one or two younger blokes will also be dropped

Re: Changes for next week
Membrey is struggling( compared to his 'usual'). When he is recovered he has to get a vfl run for a spell...there's others ready and performing....since his return we have looked awful. Yes, Caminiti was out but his presence seems to significantly altered the way we were playing with smalls attacking & scoring...its been bomb it in season again.
AGAIN....Windhager plays well above VFL standard whilst some of our 22 slips into VFL standard.
Windhager has 33 disposals...kicked 3.2...still playing...
Our defense was poor, our midfield very poor...forward line was still overwhelmed...
Who comes in?
IN
Windhager
Webster
King
Billings
Gresham / Bytel subs
OUT
Paton ( form > improved but too little)
Membrey ( injured > vfl)
Steele ( injured > rest)
Sharman ( vfl > still not capable without the right forward mix to "hide" his weaknesses)

Re: Changes for next week
That's funny
Caminiti walks back into the seniors after a 3 week lay off but Membrey needs to come back in through the VFL.
Membrey to miss next week but he's back in the week after

Re: Changes for next week
Its funny because Membrey is a senior player returning from a munted knee & has been VERY average regardless of being heavily defended. He looks so underdone.
Caminiti wasnt injured...
He had a decent game but not good. 4 turnovers, weak support for smalls...no score involvements...hes got alot to learn.
His season has shown poor ability to be involved in OTHERS scoring...he also is below average in marking, contested/uncontested marks, marks inside 50...pretty sure that's a forwards bread & butter, right? He does great with pressure acts & tackling inside 50.
Membreys Disposal effeciency is excellent still, always is around 80's%.
Zero contested marks...this isnt his normal self.
4 score involvements was pretty good, and 4 pressure acts also good. All in under 80 minutes.
He isnt a chump. But he is struggling to find form....his form. To say he only performs at top level when theres a KPP forward for him to bounce off is the same for any 2nd or 3rd forward.
I want Tim to excel & be what hes been in years past, but he may not be able to grab 5 -7 contested marks a game anymore.
Caminiti's best is really his youthful athleticism ~ precisely what Tim has seemingly lost.

Re: Changes for next week
I watched the 2nd half of Sandringhams' game today.
Windhager and Highmore were stand outs.
Windhager should be rewarded with selection.
Campbell again was good and Marshall needs help in the ruck, but whether they ever select him, well probably doubtful unless Marshall gets injured.
Webster did some good things and will probably come back in.
If King is cleared, he definitely comes straight back in.
If Gresham is fit, straight back him because he is our most creative midfielder.
Saw Heath take a couple of really good marks, but isn't ready yet.
Billings was good, but not outstanding, he gets picked for experience.
I would like to see Owen's given more midfield time.

Think about it
Would all the changes suggested being made would have made any difference today?

Re: Changes for next week
We are too weak in the forward half. Unfortunately, we need Marshall down there in the short term.
Campbell has been an emergency every game this season and must play next week.
Even if King comes back, we need to be less predictable going forward and Marshall is both a good pack mark and leading forward.
Let Tommy do the traditional ruckman work...It's not GWS have a Gawn or Grundy in the team. Campbell deserves a chance.
Billings and Webster add some class and composure. Both those things were lacking today.
Windhager is an absolute no-brainer to play.
Caminiti was NFG today. Might miss a week anyway for the late "spoil" attempt.

The rot started with the Port game.
The team had momentum and we fluffed our chances by not taking a punt on freshening up the team for that 5 day break on our home turf

Re: Changes for next week
It helps in the long term when you give more opportunities to more players on the list. Plus it keeps every one on their toes
We wouldn't have tried some guys without the injuries
It's safe and conservative to be playing the same guys week in week out.
Complacency (consciously or subconsciously) starts creeping in when you don't make changes

I get your thinking but Marshall's strength is around the ground and clearances.... and he's been a terrible set shot from inside 50 for a few years now..Life Long Saint wrote: ↑Sun 14 May 2023 6:09pm We are too weak in the forward half. Unfortunately, we need Marshall down there in the short term.

We dont want too many changes but this malaise has been a few weeks in the making.. Windy, King and Webster in? Gresh?

Re: Changes for next week
The last 2 posts well done. When we had all the injuries at the start of the season we coped. Players in form got games. We all thought end of the world when regulars weren't playing but others got a chance and thrived. I don't care any more about your past if you can't give 100% then bring someone in that will. I'm the most tormented SA fan in history. No matter where we are on the ladder they beat us. My kids went today on their own because they're old enough. I just can't do it anymore. They got home vowing to never go again. My daughter showed me video of when Membrey got concussed, the old guy in front mocked him and said "I tawt I saw a puttytat ha ha ha". If I was their my girl wouldn't speak to me again. We will be a great side when we win interstate, until then i have doubts. I trust Ross and Co are working that out and will get rid of front runners. Great teams WIN ANYWHERE !!!

Billings is also a must have in the team...His composure and class have been sorely missed in the last few weeks as the honeymoon period is coming to an end.realdeal wrote: ↑Sun 14 May 2023 7:34pmI get your thinking but Marshall's strength is around the ground and clearances.... and he's been a terrible set shot from inside 50 for a few years now..Life Long Saint wrote: ↑Sun 14 May 2023 6:09pm We are too weak in the forward half. Re: Changes for next week
Caminiti has shown more in 2 months than Membrey has shown in two years. I’m sorry I’m off the Skunk train. He’s been serviceable to our club for a long time but he’s just not as amazing he’s once was.
