Re: Billings+Keeler named in Zebs
Didn’t Billings get like 40 possessions last time he played at Sandy?
Always been too good for this level
Seems like he’s having a decent run to build up his fitness

Re: Billings+Keeler named in Zebs
Re Butler
My impression is that he runs all over the field and spends a relatively high % of time on the field for, dare I say respectfully, a ‘bottom six’ player. And he is durable.
Jack Billings has more footy skills but is fragile. He also gives it a good honest shot though.
I think Butler’s advantage was his fitness and quick touch( not necessarily golden touch, but good enough)
But despite his speedy reflexes and durability, the game in general has sped up over the last five years, so instead of being say 20% quicker (just a figure to illustrate a point), he is now, say 5-10% faster, and that ‘gap’ is not enough to allow him to steal the show like before.
Gotta love his efforts though and team oriented.
This is what I worry about with Gresh. Has Al the media noise about his selfishness impacted him? Can he still play his own game or has he gone into his shell?
Worried

Butler is a small forward
Billings is a half forward/Winger
They play very differently

Re: Billings+Keeler named in Zebs
Billings had 54 - I was there - he played midfield and bought his own footy
He’s not very good at VFL level - he’s too good for that level
Today he’s played forward had about 15 to 3qtr time and kicked 3

Finding myself agreeing with you a lot lately B.M
Billings imo a definite inclusion for our side next week off the back of this game.

Final Scores Blues 9-17-71 v Sandy 10-8-68.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Nevertheless, only 18 can be on the field, so their value is discussed in respect to each other as well as as individuals.

Re: Billings+Keeler named in Zebs
Based on this both Bytel and Billings should be in this week.
Players vulnerable in our current 22.
Paton, Cordy, Butler, Stocker, Byrnes (dependent on disposal, bit up and down), Phillipou, Gresham

Been very frustrating watching him play as sub.
100% needs to have more game time

Players vulnerable in our current 22.
Paton (not like for like)
Cordy (go smaller and have membery backup ruck)
Butler (pressure has been good) Stocker (see Paton)
Byrnes (dependent on disposal, bit up and down)
Phillipou (would be stiff)
Gresham (needs a high workrate game and to hit the scoreboard)
I suspect what will happen unless there are injuries
Out: Cordy
In: Billings
Bytel being held out by Hunter Clark- unless they push him back and a Paton/stocker type player out.
Gee he is stiff.

Perhaps you should have resisted the urge to post this until tea time tonight. You may have a different perspective by then.nostalgicsaint wrote: ↑Sun 23 Apr 2023 3:06pm Players vulnerable in our current 22.

Not really. Injuries and form are things which could change tonight.
Doesn't change the list of who is vulnerable right now which is the overall point of my post.
If we don't have speculation on this forum it'd be a very quite place. The speculation above has me watching the players listed with interest this afternoon/eve

Re: Billings+Keeler named in Zebs
Might be time to reward Tom Campbell with a game and let Marshall spend longer periods forward.

Re: Billings+Keeler named in Zebs
Looks like Keeler will take a while to get the fitness and speed of the game. Looked slow at VFL level.
Billings straight back in next week (unless fitness is a concern). Windhager or Byrnes to make way, you'd think.

Re: Billings+Keeler named in Zebs
Under Lyon, Cordy is not going to be replaced by anyone other than a better tall: eg, King, Caminiti when he is next available, or just possibly Campbell.Trev from the Bush wrote: ↑Sun 23 Apr 2023 3:15pmPerhaps you should have resisted the urge to post this until tea time tonight. As regards you list of vulnerable players: I too would have Paton on it, but Ross clearly doesn't (or at least not while Webster is out injured). I doubt that Stocker or Byrnes are vunlerable. I agree re the others. Hill could reasonably be added to your list on the basis of his performance against the Pies, but I doubt that Ross would agree with me.

Re: Billings+Keeler named in Zebs
Yep I would have liked to see Campbell in the ruck today with Marshall playing more forward.
I still don’t rate Marshall’s tap work as anything above average.

I am not doubting your knowledge. I just reckon Ross, Corey, Lenny and Robert combined have a better perspective.meher baba wrote: ↑Sun 23 Apr 2023 4:11pmUnder Lyon, Cordy is not going to be replaced by anyone other than a better tall: eg, King, Caminiti when he is next available, or just possibly Campbell.Trev from the Bush wrote: ↑Sun 23 Apr 2023 3:15pmPerhaps you should have resisted the urge to post this until tea time tonight.
