Re: Coaches Votes
I’m sure Lyon is a lot smarter than to deliberately leave a damaging player run loose. He’s also not stupid enough to not give Daicos votes as the media would be all over him. Daicos took 8 kick outs played on each time. He also ran behind the back of players with the ball to receive handballs.
Lyon has a choice run a player blocking those hands off and the ball is still coming forward or push a player 40 meters forward and get extra numbers.
Easy choice.

Re: Coaches Votes
Daicos was easily BOG
Should of been targeted
Lyon admitted as much
He basically took responsibility for the loss

Re: Coaches Votes
Both should have been targeted
Nick 42 disposals, 27 kicks, 15 handballs, 856 metres gained
Josh 30 disposals, 16 kicks, 14 handballs, 502 metres gained

Re: Coaches Votes
Did Darcy Moore have a better game than Wilkie who saw off alot more inside 50 attacks?

Re: Coaches Votes
Kick outs only recorded as a stat if the player plays on from FB
Did Daicos kick out EVERY time?
Did he play on EVERY time?
Spin it however you want, he was easily BOG - and received maximum votes from both coaches. And will get 3 Brownlow votes
Teflon
Ross admitted they got it wrong with Daicos- and they did

10 coaches votes usually displays a pretty dominant performance, but Curly didn't think "wow we must stop him", so I'm guessing his impact was way overrated (by the coaches ).CURLY wrote: ↑Tue 18 Apr 2023 11:17amPlayed on every time and does it every time. Ross didn't really rate Daicos as BOG but gave him the votes to conform

Re: Coaches Votes
Don't know if Daicos did a lot of damage? Didn't have a massive impact considering he had it more than 40 times.
Looks to me that Ross wanted to see how our game stacked up against them. If he does have any ideas on how to curtail Daicos, he wouldn't be revealing them now.

Re: Coaches Votes
Correct. Between the entire coaching staff no one thought to put a tag on him????? Righto Lyon let him run free and it obviously wasn't to great a concern. The G Train Legacy wrote: ↑Tue 18 Apr 2023 1:54pmDon't know if Daicos did a lot of damage? Daicos hit up the corridor with his disposals from half back. And that is why he was so dangerous.

Re: Coaches Votes
Daicos had nothing to do with the result, we defended them well, only conceded 70 points against a usually high scoring team.Banger9798 wrote: ↑Tue 18 Apr 2023 2:02pm Daicos hit up the corridor with his disposals from half back. And that is why he was so dangerous.
There were two main reasons Collingwood won.
They were a bit cleaner with the ball and in a game dominated by the defences, Mihocek was the only dangerous forward and tiltled it their way.

Re: Coaches Votes
Some of our outside runners were down on their usual ouput, apart from Byrnes - Hill was way down.
Whereas Collingwood had Naicos, etc... - they definitely had more outside run, overall.
Windhager likes a challenge, and played a couple of great games last year under Ratten, stopping key players (he even beat a couple by winning valuable possessions himself).
I think Lyon should have used him on Naicos.
Lesson learned, hopefully.

Well, they still kicked more goals than us and someone started those attacking chains. The dangerous inside 50s were often due to Daicos taking that aggressive kick back inside.

Yet he was clearly bog?!
Can you guys actually believe this???… maybe think about what you’re arguing about
He was the best player on the ground - blind Freddy knows that
That means he had the MOST impact on the result

Re: Coaches Votes
BM is totally right, RTB basically admitted his error not tagging him in the pressor.
At the oval you could see how damaging Nick Daicos was, he set up every switch and all their forays forward. When we were trapped in our defence in the 3rd he kept winning it back or linking up with runners banging back in. He was elite and a level above every other player on the ground and clearly the difference in the two teams.

Yes. It was a staggering 6 point win. His 8 entries for 1 goal assist included in 4 score involvements (this includes behinds) was truly amazing.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Tue 18 Apr 2023 6:11pmBM is totally right, RTB basically admitted his error not tagging him in the pressor.

They could barely keep themselves in the game for the last 20 minutes.
Crouch was far more effective. Far more.
