Four frees
Four frees in a half is this the reward for being a good team?
Absolutely disgusting bias and a clear set of two rules.

Re: Four frees
How’s when Pendles got run down and both StKilda players stopped to say we don’t want the advantage.
Umpire didn’t pay HTB and we were on the back foot.

Re: Four frees
This sort of comment always annoys me.
Yes we could have and should have found ways to win despite the umpiring decisions.
But
If they had of changed there absolutely would have been a significant chance of an alternative outcome.
So whilst the decions didn't dictate the results it is plain stupidity to say they don't influence the result. If that was the case we wouldn't have introduced score reviews.

Re: Four frees
Go back and look at the ruck contests for the jumper parachute as a starting point. Marshall could have received at least 5 frees which are normally paid.

Re: Four frees
....and the bloody snick-o-meter, what a crock of s***....
There were dozens of examples where they failed to dispose of the ball correctly when tackled and with zero reward.....I'm with Curly

Re: Four frees
No free. Wasn’t high. Watch the replay.
However….there was a ruck contest in the 50 that looked like an arm over the shoulder. Would like a 2nd look at that one instead

I’m talking the marking contest Owens gets pushed fair in the back. Quaynor marks.Annoyedsaint wrote: ↑Sun 16 Apr 2023 10:40pmNo free. Wasn’t high. Watch the replay.

Re: Four frees
The free kicks was a joke.
In the first quarter near the start after the Crouch goal we went clean inside 50. Kicked from the right flank about 10m into the forward 50. It was around 25m+ and the umpires call not 15. Turn over and Collingwood scored. Absolutely killed our momentum. We get aroused when we get clutch holding the balls and kick crucial turnover goals. The umpires denied us that all game. So many holdings not paid on Michito. Was poorly officiated.

Re: Four frees
that’s probly a 50/50. The lurch forward isn’t a great look at umpires will ignore it more than not.CURLY wrote: ↑Sun 16 Apr 2023 10:49pmI’m talking the marking contest Owens gets pushed fair in the back. Part of me says it’s a free, but the other part says he tried to milk it knowing he was out of position and not getting near it in any case.
I’m the biggest umpire critic around, but was calm most of the game and didn’t think they affected the game too much for once.
Was more shitty with how many turns we got smothered or turned it over. Shocking game skills wise, both sides.

Re: Four frees
Yep, I think you can make a fair case for this.
Obviously his first thought is always to avoid any allegation of bias towards the team he represented. It’s sort of a reverse conflict of interest

Re: Four frees
The umpires were shocking and influenced the game for sure! How can you not give one team a free kick for almost an hour of the game when that team kept making tackles that should have been holding the ball? Plus Owens was mugged all day and Roma was being used as a ladder at some stoppages. We get the same amount of frees as them, not more and we win by a goal. And there was the blatant shove on the St Kilda defender that should have been a free to us and resulted in the mark and goal that put them 3 goals up in the final term. It was a joke.

Re: Four frees
I saw quite a few frees missed both ways, however, it's usually those steering the match who get the most free kicks from what I generally see and as much as me swearing every-time I saw a shocker missed regarding us, they were not the only things that took the 4 points away.

Re: Four frees
You’re Wrong. I thought it was in the back watching live but the replay clearly shows it was fairCURLY wrote: ↑Sun 16 Apr 2023 10:49pmI’m talking the marking contest Owens gets pushed fair in the back. Quaynor marks.Annoyedsaint wrote: ↑Sun 16 Apr 2023 10:40pmNo free. Wasn’t high. Watch the replay.

There were some pisspoor decisions by the umpires in the third quarter and several missed frees that weren’t paid to us but the Quaynor mark against Owens in that first half was fair.
Quaynor stood his ground and leaned into Owens with his upper body. He didn’t push his hands into Owens back.
Wilkie does it half a dozen times a game. Do you want Callum penalised for standing his ground and marking do you?

The missed free to Windhager cost a goal.
The blatant in the back on Battle allowed a mark and goal.
Pendles Daicos Elliot run down multiple times
Collingwood got a dream run.
