Saints are the real deal
Yeah, I know we lost but a bit more composure in front of goals in the 4th and we win.
A full Saints team will go deep into September IMHFO that is.

Re: Saints are the real deal
Agree.
We weren't great tonight night but the system works so well we still nearly pinched it. Against one of the best teams in it.
We start getting our good players back and we dont loose anymore and we're in it up to our eyeballs.
We won't loose too many games this year if we keep playing the way we are.

Next week will be the real test, should win, a loss will hurt.

Re: Saints are the real deal
Next week is critical. I’m ok with today. A few things went against us, we lacked a bit of composure and we still have some good cattle out due to injury. Not bad all things considered

No - we are not anything yet

Yeah I agree. The whole league is s*** at the moment, not one good team amongst them.

Re: Saints are the real deal
We lost to what is currently the best team in the comp, but stood up strongly right to the end. We came within a fingernail of a tie.
Along with Steele and Sinclair and to some extent King, other players on our list are starting to get sprinkled with stardust by the AFL world: I'm thinking Wood, Wilkie, Crouch, Higgins and Owens. And some others coming from a bit further back did themsleves proud last night: Clark, Byrnes and Stocker among others. And Phillipou and Caminiti are still looking dangerous and exciting.
The only big disappointments last night for mine were Gresham, Hill and Marshall. IMO Cordy and Butler played their roles better than many on here will credit. And the much-maligned Howard helped to keep us in the game IMO.

Re: Saints are the real deal
thought hill was okay. not his best game, but serviceable. Same with Roma - dominated as expected - hard to hit our mids if they allow themselves to be outpositioned - which happened time and time again. Gresh - woeful. I'd have Steele in as a straight swap. Membrey likely in for Cami if the latter gets unfairly rubbed out (as he will).

Re: Saints are the real deal
If Owens dropped his shoulders and gets a Selwood speciality 'too high' with 5 seconds left, it could have been a draw.
We are the 'real deal' for commitment and game plan. Just need some more talent that can execute under pressure.

A game against Collingwood is a great leadup to a game against Carlton.
Big crowd, pretty good team, pressure. Yep, the boys should be tuned up and prepped for the game Sunday.

Re: Saints are the real deal
Marshall disappointing?!
37 HO
25 possessions
7 Marks
5 tackles
8 clearances
If that’s a poor game, I played a lot of poor games!!!!

Re: Saints are the real deal
Under the circumstances it was a poor/average game, as he should have dominated.
Marshal had 32 hit outs, Frampton had 27.

Re: Saints are the real deal
Frampton is 200cm and is a good athlete
Played as a second ruck for Adelaide
He’s no stranger to it
Should Marshall have got 50HOs and 40 possessions
IMO we should’ve played Campbell - who I reckon will play next week!

Re: Saints are the real deal
We're not quite there yet, but we're getting closer.
Still a couple of players short. We still need a quick dynamic midfielder who can play inside and outside, and a forward/ ruck. I know it could be Hayes, but he's only 194cm.
Caminiti, Owens, Wanganeen-Milera, Windhager, Byrnes , Bytel, King, can all get better
