Re: Tribunal is a joke
Too many Neanderthals running the game and too many Neanderthals who don't want change
The whole idea of suspending players who are 'careless' or 'clumsy' is to change their behaviour
Ben Long was rubbed out multiple times for bumping when he knocked a few players out with head high contact. He had to change or risk ending his AFL career
You can't have one rule for some and allow the big clubs to get away with it. If it's all about money and revenue, then what about the future of the game
Instead of $millions in potential lawsuits for CTE, the AFL could be liable for $Billions. Don't they understand that their insurance premiums will skyrocket? They are leaving themselves exposed to future risk to the financial health of the competition
How can they preach that the head is sacrosanct, and then allow a guy like McKay to recklessly throw a forearm or Lynch do what he did?

Re: Tribunal is a joke
They have the tribunal to keep clubs and AFL out of the courts, but as soon as you involve lawyers and legal arguement at the tribunal everything it turns to shyte.
I believe it should be just a panel who hand out the penalties and make it so no club/player can appeal the process or decision.

What could possibly go wrong with that approach?Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 12 Apr 2023 9:41pm I believe it should be just a panel who hand out the penalties and make it so no club/player can appeal the process or decision.

How about the clubs do their own internal audits, and negotiate between themselves?Life Long Saint wrote: ↑Thu 13 Apr 2023 1:18pmWhat could possibly go wrong with that approach?Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 12 Apr 2023 9:41pm I believe it should be just a panel who hand out the penalties and make it so no club/player can appeal the process or decision.
That's bound to work.
Duh...
OK .that's a joke folks.
Barry Hall's Love tap will forever be enshrined in our hearts - like a dagger - as Saints fans.
What did 'we' as footy fans learn from it?
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

That the AFL wanted Sydney to win
Therefore Hall was cleared!
If it was Gehrig - two weeks
Baker - 8 weeks
Rules changed after
Kosi - attempted to trip
X.Clarke - cleaned up off the ball

Re: Tribunal is a joke
Didn't we know that?
Even before the tribunal?
I guess we learnt that they have no shame, in the quest for the national enterprise.
RIP Fitzroy

Re: Tribunal is a joke
Basically Lynch is a chicken s*** coward, he piked out of the contest and elected to protect himself rather than go for the mark and take the hit. If it was Roo or Jonathan Brown they would've gone for the pill.
He should've been suspended because he had the option to go for the ball and chose self preservation instead

I was at the tigers game and this happened pretty much in front of our seats. It’s so fast in real time that no one really thought much had happened. The ball moved on, it wasn’t even a free from memory. I know lynch has history but no dogs fans were booing or anything after it. Didn’t even know he’d been cited till days later lol

Everything happen fast in a game of footy - incidents happen in the blink of an eye
But looked ordinary on replay
Turned his body and collected Keath
What happened to the elect to bump - you’re in trouble if you knock someone out?

McKay got to play and Scumbaggers got rolled on Thursday night. Couldn’t happen to a nicer club!

The umpires and the fans don't always get the right angle to see certain incidents but the replay and slow motion picks up what really happenedstevie wrote: ↑Fri 14 Apr 2023 3:54pm I was at the tigers game and this happened pretty much in front of our seats. Just because umps don't pay a free it seems to support thugs like Lynch (see below for incident last year where the umpire didn't pay a free to Matt Rowell)
Prior to cameras picking up everything on a footy field there was some nasty stuff that no one except the victim and perpetrator knew about
The AFL pretend that they want to protect the head but there's still too much grey.
Unless there's a radical review then dirty c***s like Lynch will always take the opportunity to knock out one of their opponents
The tribunal and the MRO rules need reviewing. I still can't believe that Willy Rioli got off last year.
