I agree. It was kind of embarrassing. Who were the artists selected to perform that? To think the club had the likes of Tex Perkins, Paul Dempsey and even Billy Bragg to contribute a rendition and that was the best they could doSebastian Tombs wrote: ↑Mon 03 Apr 2023 2:38pm That " reimaging" of the club song at the end was f****** awful

Oh man, that pre-match entertainment was fantastic, really good introduction, paying respects to past players, heroes and ordinary, the diehard supporters who are the heartbeat of St Kilda FC, and then the build up to Dan Sultan and Alex lahey performing 'Owen', followed by a whole lot more musicians and vocalists belting out our wonderful theme song in the home of football.
I sat there in front of our big screen TV with my family and bawled my eyes out.....not a dry eye in the house.....the experience of a lifetime for the younger ones which they will long remember.
There's not another team that owns such an evocative song that can be rendered as blues, jazz, dixie, big band, classical, whatever! It is played all over the world, I quite like the following version by a Swedish jazz musician Grunhild Carling:
And to top off the night with such a stirring win over the Bombers, I couldn't have asked for more!!

"Any candidate for political office, once chosen for leadership, must have the will to take the wheel of a very powerful car, tasked from time to time to make a fast journey down a narrow, precipitous mountain road – and be highly skilled at driving. Otherwise, he is disqualified from the company of competent leaders."

Re: Full pre game ceremony
Despite all of the heartache, disappointment, missed opportunities and everything I've said in the past and will say in the future, good and bad, I love this footy club and I will love it until the day I die.
