Re: Saints 150
I note that Costello’s rag has an article on St Kilda which refers to 150 years but focussed on 1984 and the Resolutions (with Crawford involved) that saw the Club not liquidated
Some received 7 cents in the $1-, others 22 cents
Sitting after the secured creditor, a secured creditor which saw provisioning for Bad and Doubtful debt - and the entity surviving
Quite frankly, media should restrict its opinion and the opinion of those it seeks out for opinion to fact
Not fantasy to promote an agenda and foster a headline
The Laws around the matters the Costello rag refers to are explicit and the basis for Court of Law Orders
Mind you, the political party the Costello rag promotes recently allowed insolvent Companies to trade
No doubt a Class Action by any impacted Trade Creditor at some stage
I bet the Costello rag does not cover off on that!!!

And just to add
Why the focus on St Kilda and 1984?
Collingwood was required to pay by bank cheque, up front, for match day deliveries of beverage at Victoria Park
Later, Geelong had half of its debt written off by Westpac, the other 50% financed by Bendigo Bank which remains a naming “sponsor”
Then you get to Docklands, Westpac lending plus financing into the Stapled Debt Securities (which were marketed on an ATO Ruling), so Westpac 100% financing a disaster
South Melbourne and Fitzroy morphed to
Just for starters
So why St Kilda as the exclusive headline?

No comparative mention of Essendon's illicit drug program and penalties? No mention of Carton's systematic salary cap rorts to buy premierships; no mention that a few clubs have not made it to 150; no mention of the open cheque book welfare bestowed on Sydney, BNE, Suns, GWS to keep them afloat?Killa wrote: ↑Thu 30 Mar 2023 10:27am And just to add

What a bunch of mean spirited and actually cruel wankers.
That goes for the pitiful Front Bar Crew last night and their attempts at using very painful moments as a basis for humour.
Very funny, look there you are heartbroken, how was that? yuk yuk....

Re: Saints 150
It is a part of the tribal history of the game and its politics pre AFL. A part that is tolerable due to the stigma carried over, even though we don't spend decades at the top, but we could have had a premiership in every decade, excluding the 80's, since the 60's. Equalisation has worked but we arestill the perennial losers. At least that is the narrative that Lyon hopes to bring to an end, and long shall him and his disciples reign.Yorkeys wrote: ↑Thu 30 Mar 2023 11:41amNo comparative mention of Essendon's illicit drug program and penalties? Re: Saints 150
Great memories on the 150 wall an I get the importance of the 150th as an important milestone for the club and we are not expecting a Grand Final presence this year. However I reckon we could 'get' the jabbers if there isn't too much of a distraction involving the players before the game - why can't it be a big thing for the players after the match? Getting three games under our belt in a row would be good for everyone's morale while we have the opportunity and it'll be the first big game at the G for the youngsters.
I dread our history on big games of non fixture observances at the G.

Fat head Maquire put s*** on the Saints and reckoned that the drug cheats will spoil our 150 game. Recalled some s*** by a prior Druggies official who called the Saints "animals".
