Next Week Must Be A Statement
Let’s face it under Brett…..milestone games have been a disaster…
We play to celebrate 150 years against a side who in recent times has had our measure
I imagine they’ll get that scumbag Stringer back and he always cuts us up but not this time…
We have a chance to break another hoodoo (Dogs a nice start) and give our fans something under the prime time MCG lights to be proud of
Been wanting to beat these drug cheats for a while …I’m nervous it’s at G not Marvel but we must make a stand
No more soft, embarrassing milestone games

We never seem to match up well against them. No Steele, MCG, a game we should win…

Re: Next Week Must Be A Statement
It's a huge game. For us, especially - the long suffering fans.
But for the players, it's just another game. They just need to attack the first 15 minutes of the game as they have done, and then keep biting off each quarter as they come.
I just want them to stay focused on doing what they're doing, which is executing the game plan and working their guts out until the final siren.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.
Re: Next Week Must Be A Statement
Sydney, above us and Essendon below us have played the Hawks and Gold Coast. Whereas we've played Freo and Bulldogs, two of last years finalists. I feel confident of a good win.

Re: Next Week Must Be A Statement
Don't shoot the messenger, but some news out of VFL-
Bombers VFL team (playing GWS 2nds) had Stringer with 22 touches and a goal.
Wilkie might shadow him, or Battle.
Nick Hind had 41 touches.
He could torch us, so we need someone to compete and keep him quiet.
Windy?
Our team defence seems to be working, we pressured Dockers and Dogs and made them nervous, so keep up that pressure and Hind's disposals would be nullified a lot.
N.b. Zebs vs Southport in Qld-
Sharman had 12 touches.
Connolly 16.
Cooper's fans have a long, long wait before seeing him pull on the jumper again.
Connolly won't be in the convo for a while, either.
Zebs got thumped by 86 pts.
Looks like they treated the Gold Coast trip as a schoolies week, just a party weekend

More likely it was a good team (Southport) up against a team with many injuries (us) and played accordingly.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Mon 27 Mar 2023 12:57pm

Re: Next Week Must Be A Statement
Zaine Cordy when interviewed in the rooms post-match was asked about the big 150 anniversary game coming up next Saturday and said that the players are "keeping it under wraps, another game, another step forward":

I imagine the coaches are just as aware as supporters that recent commemorative games have been big failures and won't allow the players to be distracted.

Re: Next Week Must Be A Statement
you'd expect the AFL listed players to always play a whole lot better than they did, it's very early days but if they keep putting in those types of woeful performances you'd suspect they might know they won't be on the list at seasons end.Mr Magic wrote: ↑Mon 27 Mar 2023 1:04pmMore likely it was a good team (Southport) up against a team with many injuries (us) and played accordingly.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Mon 27 Mar 2023 12:57pm

Re: Next Week Must Be A Statement
Agree with Vortex.
Tom Highmore had a team-high 32 disposals.
Max Heath in the ruck had 14.
Cooper, as a guy who has tasted seniors, really should standout amongst the rest of the Zebs, who might be full-time carpenters, plumbers, bank workers, etc, brought in from local leagues

Re: Next Week Must Be A Statement
Don't forget Injectors have only beaten a VFL team and were very ordinary against a bottom 4 team. Watched some of that game out of interest and GC were putting bugger all pressure on Essendon players and they were still missing easy targets. Most teams would have smashed them on rebound. GC are very very ordinary. The Bombers weren't that much better.
Think folks getting way ahead of were the Bombers are really at. They've had a dream draw to start. Reality about to kick them in the face Saturday night.
If we bring out pressure and game style from last 2 week's I reckon we'll win and win very well.
Go Saints!!

It’s this arrogant **** Shyte attitude is why I can’t stand em ….it’s almost an air of “yeah but we are a big club..” they reek of it EVEN THOUGH their club brought the entire game into disrepute through filthy drug cheating program ….then they had the audacity to bring that ass clown back in to interview for their coaching job like nothing’s happened…Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Mon 27 Mar 2023 7:05pm After Langfords comments I hope we smash the ignorant pr*cks.

Re: Next Week Must Be A Statement
A big part of success against Essendon will be keeping the influence of Draper and Redmund to a minimum.
If we stick to our game plan it will be very difficult for them to kick enough goals.
Gold Coast & Hawthorn simply didn’t have the defensive structure to stop Essendon from scoring.

Langford’s comments are nonsensical. Let’s see how they work out for him.

Re: Next Week Must Be A Statement
The 35 point defeat last year in Round 14 was the beginning of the end. The game was a shootout with little or no tagging. I can only imagine that our coaching panel thought we were better than them (Essendon were third last with two wins and we were 6th with 8 wins). That's unlikely to be the case this week, but we are running out of players and they will get back a few.

Re: Next Week Must Be A Statement
This will be interesting
Listening to Fox suggesting playing us we force sides to go backwards/sideways
Bombers have scored 100 pts last 2 weeks cause they go forward at speed
This game will be very interesting
Have to shut Stringer down if he plays - he plays a blinder against us all the time
Draper - aggressive sets them up Marshall wins this battle goes a long way to us winning
Midfield - I think they have us for pace but lack in/under grunt …Caldwell McGrath Parish etc if we can win the battle outside think we’ll go ok
Our midfield looks different- yes Steele/Crouch etc but Clarke gives a genuine Dal dimension and Gresham in spurts adds pace
Going to be interesting

Re: Next Week Must Be A Statement
I just spotted a post from McGusto shortly after draft night.
Essendope had spoken a lot with Matteas during the draft, but they chose Elijah someone.
Dildoro, when interviewed, said that afterwards, Matteas told him 'I hope Elijah's a good player'
So MP will be keen to show the Injectors what they missed out on.
Gonna be interesting, hey

Time to make a stand
