Butler on thin ice
35% efficiency by foot doesn’t hurt on scoreboard
That aside somebody teach Gresham to look before he kicks ffs he just bombs away like a headless chook
Our small forwards didn't put a lot of pressure on yesterday when the ball was in dispute, although Gresh bobbed up with a couple of handy goals. Butler seems a bit off the pace, and Higgins is a bit hit or miss. Probably too late now, but Gresh just needs to look for a target more with his kicking.
Gresham is best at the foot of the Full Forward snapping goals and playing on instinct. When he is the last kick to the forward 50 he lacks the decision making, discipline and execution to be elite.
He should lower his eyes like Byrnes does but he doesn’t he goes for glory. Bynes twice lowers his eyes and picked out players that kicked goals that helped us win us the match
There was that one horrible miss by Gresham to Wood going into F50 though I wonder if Gresham was blocked by Wood's opponent seeing Wood because it was a pretty glaring miss
Though I do recall him maybe twice running through the center weighing up his options and he hit the correct option with a very good kick ..... so he can do it
I saw Hill run past Gresh for a handball and certain goal, Gresh hung on to it and kicked the goal anyway, so lucky.
Just wondered for a flash..
He probably still needs to prove himself..
If we can get Hunter and Windy and potentially still Jones, ticking in the mid department, and maybe Byrnes? ..perhaps Gresh can be a specialist forward who runs up for the centre bounce?
The game was insanely fast in patches and I wonder, do you think Gresh has the hand and finger touch skills of Hunter and NWM and Hill?
He was certainly busy.
I already said I saw Hill run past, but you see the Saints podcast here..

He will have to learn to be more team orientated, but I kinda assume he needs to prove himself at this point, potentially his last season to be the little champ we thought he could be.
Now I’ve been on record saying I think Gresh should play permanent forward and will thrive there, but after two weeks I’m getting a bit worried.
Having no King or Membrey probably makes a difference, but Gresh (along with Butler and Higgins) have been poor as a whole IMO
My biggest concern is Gresh’s kicking in front of goal. I know he got 2 tonight, but he failed to make the distance on 2 shots well inside 50, and his first goal was a mongrel that just made it from about 35.
I’ve never really rated his field kicking as elite, but thought he got it done inside 50, but now I’m worried about that too
All posters are equal, but some posters are more equal than others.

You are worried?
I think Bevo was a little more worried that you. Gresham tore them apart up forward but tends to get in his own way.
He is a forward/midfielder.
He will open up the forward line, when his instinct to score is replaced by a team first mantra.
