On the flip side, the compensation package to get him will need to be very strong. It would have to be significant upgrade on the pick used (11) to land him, given we've put in the development work.

If I was NWM I'd want to string a few game breaking performances in a row before signing up to a ripper contract. He has to be backing himself to improve dramatically and command a better contract. I wouldn't be surprised if we're lowballing him right now.

I think a compensation system like the free agent one, tied to the original draft pick and performance stats would work here.

Would need some work to ensure it's not misused.
