Re: Fyfe to Moorabbin?
Need somewhere for him to park his helicopter!
Need some big surf for him to do his water recovery in - don’t think the bayside waves would suit him!
Also not enough wind off the bay to keep up his skills of windsurfing.
Need to supply him with some heavy haulage trucks to play around with. I don’t think Jayco caravans have the punch that his dad’s trucks have.
So to get Fyfe to move East, he’ll need enticing with big boys toys!!

He could live near Tony Brown in Barwon Heads. They'd come in one car with Boris Enright.loris wrote: ↑Wed 22 Mar 2023 8:56pm Need somewhere for him to park his helicopter!

It's not too far from Lorne and the surf coast

Media focused on how badly Fyfe played but what was lost was how good Wilke was.

Yet another case of a journo adding up 2 plus 2 & coming up with 8..I loved Fyfe as a player but he’s pretty much done!

You would have to be incredibly naive or be ignorant to the truth if you think the stories about our last injury prone gun recruit was all made up rubbishCQ SAINT wrote: ↑Wed 22 Mar 2023 2:51pmLol. I'd admit to being naive or ignorant if it had anything to do with his abilities to play football.Moods wrote: ↑Thu 23 Mar 2023 11:55amYou would have to be incredibly naive or be ignorant to the truth if you think the stories about our last injury prone gun recruit was all made up rubbishCQ SAINT wrote: ↑Wed 22 Mar 2023 2:51pmLol. Unless, the truth is, he just took it up after winning flags, brownlow votes and best and fairests and it wasn't just naive and ignorant chatter by fools with nothing better to do with their time.

Re: Fyfe to Moorabbin?
This would seriously be the worst player move to Moorabbin since Tim Watson arrived at the club.
Inside two years, he traded Lappin and recruiited Tony Francis, Damian Monkhorst, and Sean Charles...to name a few.
He did get Milne in that period, too!

Tim took us from finals to a spoon inside two years.
His trading and drafting strategy was a big part of that decline.

Re: Fyfe to Moorabbin?
I'm just old enough to remember Barrott /Stewart trade but Lovett/Ball and the acquisition of Hannebery would have to be in a photo finish for second prize.
And then we go and promote the goose mostly responsible for Hannebery's recruitment!

After working in the Justice system for just shy of 50 years, I don't consider myself to be either naive or ignorant when to comes to drug use.
And I don't accept made up rubbish posted on internet forums which have the sole purpose of trying to cut down a tall poppy, or make the poster seem to be an ITK.

Sometimes to give enough evidence is to expose the person who told you.saynta wrote: ↑Thu 23 Mar 2023 8:35pmShow me the proof that the stories even had a hint of truth about them.Moods wrote: ↑Thu 23 Mar 2023 11:55amYou would have to be incredibly naive or be ignorant to the truth if you think the stories about our last injury prone gun recruit was all made up rubbishCQ SAINT wrote: ↑Wed 22 Mar 2023 2:51pmLol. I don't consider myself an ITK but was given certain info on Hannebery and a couple of others by a senior AFL player.
You can please yourself as to what you believe but his escapades with Buddy Franklin alone would point to a less than perfect behaviour record!

In post match interview, he looked at little heightened and distracted, maybe he was on cocaine, I dunno. How'd his busted ass go in the game though.
He can hang out with Dusty, Franklin and Ricky Nixon for all I care, they might even get Ablett Snr out for a rave. Who gives a f***?

Hannebery gave us one great game in 3 years and I’m not convinced the off field stuff didn’t hinder his rehab.
As far as his previous record in Sydney, in what way did we benefit from it?

Did your ex footballer mate give that idea or did you work that one out by yourself? Ex footballers spread rumours trusting their mates won't use their name and drug habits damage tendons and muscles.
Makes perfect sense.

Re: Fyfe to Moorabbin?
Letting Ball walk for free like that was just stupid. Very few players of his caliber and standing are just let go to walk like that. They either get re-signed or get traded out at market value or close to it… quite often the player insists that the club get fairly compensated.
That scorched earth approach we adopted with Ball is not a policy successful clubs adopt.
Lovett was a different kettle of fish altogether. On style, he was exactly the type of player we needed and had he taken say Peake’s spot in the draw… that might a been the difference…
But he was a known D!@%£€@d with a bad attitude. I’ve always maintained that getting him wasn’t the mistake… a 1st round pick was way was overs for the risk. Lovett should never have been worth more than a second rounder.
Hannebery was a different proposition still… the cost for a player with his question marks both in terms of off-field exploits, his high salary and his injury woes was ridiculous. Speculation was rife across everywhere that his hamstrings were stuffed.
The man was never never worth anything more than a 3rd rounder (noting his not negotiable salary) and that would have been a favour to Sydney and a 2 year contract AT MOST is what should have been on the table.
Of all three of these disasters… Hannebery is by far the worst as it was the scenario where we had the most control and the risk was the most predictable. Forumites here with no connections called out what would happen back before the trade even happened.
Absolute amateur hour.
The broader disaster though is that all three of these player movements saw us make extremely low % plays… high cost with high risk for a very very low return. If these were all stocks… you’d have past in all of them
