cause we traded picks out to bring in

Hill, Ryder, Howard, Jones, Crouch, Higgins etc

Some of those were good but at what cost??

Are Hill, Howard, Crouch and Higgins part of the future in your mind?

Interestingly Ross has mentioned this week our salary cap is the same as Geelong's but they won a flag.

So that is the cost in one sense.

We will know at season's end how Hill, Howard, Crouch and Higgins are valued by Lyon.
Our salary cap is the same as everyone else's and you have to spend 95% of it.
17 teams didn't win a flag.
Technically correct but i.a.w. the rules however I think the inference is the team that won the flag spends their cash a whole lot more wisely meaning they have a much greater spread and depth of talent, skill and experience, us not so much, meaning we have pumped much of our cap into too few with said talent, skill and experience.
Pffft. This is the part where the coach looks at the journalist and says, Is that what you think I was saying? I'm not privy to what Geelong pays their players, I can only assume its all approved in the salary cap.
pfft, not even making sense

We can fix it during the rebuild mate. Don't worry. I heard from.a sponsor in the west, there's a few players left at Freo who want to go back to Melbourne, maybe we can be Freo's Corio Bay.

Ross Lyon was quoted saying words to the effect of, we all have the same size lists and we all have the same salary cap. The only things we can control are personnel and process.
The major changes in personnel have been coaches and draft picks and Cordy.
I'm assuming you watched the game today.
Our pathetic list was exposed, 14 injuries and 10 from the best 22 on that list.
Ross will probably start slashing the list and rebuilding next week.

Seeing you've been making predictions of doom all summer and when injuries set in, you began a narrative of rebuild, I'll take your latest advice with a grain of salt and let the entertainment role. 😉

Different challenges though
GWS have played in GFs
It depends what you draft when and how you bring a core through together
I’m confident IF Lyon (SOS …worries me..) can pick well and get a strong core together we’ll challenge for a good period…
We just don’t have that core A grade cream
Im praying Phillipou King NWM Owens are the start ….and that Coffield and Clark can step up but we need more
Probably another strong tall defender and another to help King ….would love his bro ….forward line set then ..
I am not trying to be disingenuous here, but GWS played in only one Grand Final and lost by 90 points. Not exactly a glowing endorsement. At least in our three grand finals between 97-2010 we were in them up to our necks. Unlucky not to have won two of them. Can't say that about GWS' single appearance in a GF.
I predict they will fall off the cliff this year and finish bottom 6.
The rest of your response I'll drink to.
GWS also played in prelims and went deep in finals
Think you’ve missed the point

I think we are 4 years away …
I don’t see Crouch and Hill in that no
Zac Jones - no
Dan Butler - no (finally someone called time today and subbed Dan out for not doing much ….Brett couldn’t..,)
Do I think Ross will cull all of the above seasons end - no
They’ll go over time but he’ll cut as deep as he can this year and next I suspect

Yet Fremantle are highly regarded despite only doing what we did in 2020 anyway.
We have beaten them four out of our last six games too btw.
Their best player looks like he might be close to the end going by yesterday.

What about the 8-3

We won 11 games last year - that’s the overall measure

We will win a few less this season - mainly because of injury

Yes yes but a harder second half draw showed up the fools gold
We also won a final in 2020
Did you think the list was headed for top 4??
I never did

Not at all

Neither is this list

We haven’t had a top 4 list since 2012

Then Pelchen decided to dismantle it and we didn’t recontract a coach who coached us to two GFs

I think Freo were a bit hasty in getting rid of them, I'm glad we rang their Bell yesterday. See what I did there? 🙂
