Votes v Freo
Superb effort by all.
5. Callum Wilkie. Such a general.
4. Jack Sinclair. Continues his AA form.
3. Josh Battle . Undersized , but was brilliant in shutting them down.
2. Mason Wood. A real weapon.
1. Jack Steele. Wonderful effort by the captain.
Just quietly, our top 10 recruit Mattaes Phillipou looks like a real player . Moves so well.

Re: Votes v Freo
No Crouch???
Easily BOG for mine
5. Crouch - tons of the ball, in and under, led all day
4. Wilkie - was great all day minus the 50 he gave away
3. Sinclair - in and out a bit but I thought he was instrumental in the plays we nailed
2. Wood - Damaging. Pbly the game winner
1. Phillipou - maybe there’s a little fairytale here but I thought he was fantastic. Seems like he’ll be the type of player that makes things happen when he’s near it.
Apologies
Steele - really really good but below his best (May he continue to play 26 touch games and be considered below par by his standards)
Marshall - Valiant++ and tough all day.
NWM and Clark - in and out but both very good

Re: Votes v Freo
Hard to vote as was a full team four quarter effort (it would be easier to name the poorer five players)
Crouch 5 - Workaholic
Nasiah 4 - Despite a few errors raising the footpassing standard and showed terrific poise as a young kicker-inner.
Wood 3 - All class as expected plus I had him in two multis for 2 goals or more.
Clark 2 - Deft footy at important moments kept us in the game in the first half.
Hill 1 - Earned his keep.
Apologies to Mattaes - among best first games for a young Stk draftee

Re: Votes v Freo
5 Sinclair: I thought he was the difference between the two teams
4 Crouch: He's continuing with his development from last season, when he started to show that he was potentially more than just an in-and-under player
3 Wilkie: brilliant as always
2 Wood: has he lifted his game this season or what!
1 Phillipou: what a debut, what poise he shows.
Steele, Webster, Owens, Battle, Marshall, Byrnes and Gresham all did some really good stuff. I don't understand how anyone can have NWM in their top 5: he did a few good things, but overall he had a mistake-riddled game.

Re: Votes v Freo
5. Byrnes, his run kept us in touch all day.
4. Wood, a 4 quarter effort that saw us home
3. Crouch, kept stoking the engines.
2. Clark. Excellent first half.
1. Owen's, played much better than most thought possible in the infancy of his career.

Gee thought Marshall was really good
Not much of a showing here
Sinclair out and out champ
How much money on the Brownlow for him ?
Wilkie

Re: Votes v Freo
You couldn't find room for Sinclair in your top nine players??
I am not sure which game you were watching?

Re: Votes v Freo
True - the gap between syncs and gresh - yet I also didnt have sincs in my votes. His consistent high performance has become expected and perhaps a back story to the four quarter team effort all around the ground today. Compared to last year quite incredible. Top 5 votes is a hard task for today's game.

Re: Votes v Freo
I didn’t have him in my votes but did give him a mention. The play maker types tend to make some errors because they tend to attempt more difficult plays and he certainly tried a few. As a defender he was decent but needs to get the balance between marking and spoiling a bit better and despite some bad passes I feel reasonably comfortable with the ball in his hands. Hope his set shots improve a bit though.meher baba wrote: ↑Sun 19 Mar 2023 7:43pm I don't understand how anyone can have NWM in their top 5: he did a few good things, but overall he had a mistake-riddled game.

Yep clearly a mistake, Sincs was great just didn't come to mind. Played a ripper first half but was not that prominent in the last qtr.

Maybe just the excitement about the deliberation he showed today and teamsmanshipskeptic wrote: ↑Sun 19 Mar 2023 8:56pmI didn’t have him in my votes but did give him a mention.
