Yes our transitions are better. Our ball movement is better. We are cleaner in tight. Freo getting a lot of F50 intercept marks but to be expected with King, Hayes and Members out.
All things considered… even conceding that was a bad quarter, I think most would have taken this outcome to date.
We’ve shown a bit of ticker so far but what is especially promising is the structure we’ve demonstrated to date.
On the anti RL side… I thought Cordy was a garbage choice considering he’s not a forward, hasn’t played well as a forward, hasn’t been impressive and his preseason characterised by his lack of fitness… has been a complete non-factor so far.
I’d have preferred Sharman by a long shot. Even if beaten at least he can lead and get onto the end of a good pass.
I’d like to see a better half from Marshall too… started well but faded a bit. Has been good in middle the too. Pbly Rowan is the key here IMO, he plays well we win IMO.
Phillipou is pbly the most exciting prospect we’ve had for a well… can’t remember a better debut from us for a long time.
Byrnes is interesting. Clearly has limitations with his disposal but actually a decent decision maker. BM floated the idea of him as a defensive forward type and I like it. Fast, works hard and gets to it. Just needs polish.
Butler and Higgins have been threatening so far but not overly damaging.
Crouch pbly our best at the moment. Super. Just super
Outside of that we need a lift in the middle. Freo mids on top but not overly damaging. Hope to see Bytel get in amongst or some more. Made a bad decision early but he looks a goer for me
Defence doing very well despite a bad 10min there for a while.

4 out of 5 goals courtesy of the f****** maggots. You would have to be brain dead to say that decisions from maggots have no effect on a games outcome.
I won't even mention f****** unwarranted 50 metre penalties
Learn the rules.
Silly decisions by our captains.
I am well aware of the rules. Are you?
You can’t point to the screen and tell the ump to watch the replay.
There was little excuse the first time, zero the second.

Every game I have seen this weekend players have remonstrated, pointed, thrown their arms in the air and hardly any 50s - even to the point I figured maybe they are going easy on it this year

It's happened in several other games this weekend and no 50 has been paid - no consistency

Was it Dougal?
Nope, he’s too seasoned a finger-pointer to make that rookie mistake

Even with the dodgy umpiring decisions, I think that first half was way better than I expected. It will be more difficult to keep the battle-hardened Freo out for another half, so I'm still not expecting a win. But all 22 players should hold their heads up high. And the new coaching setup appears to be working: both in terms of strategy, and also in terms of giving the players a lot more confidence (which was Ratten's major drawback IMO, especially last year).

I thought Cordy was a garbage choice considering he’s not a forward, hasn’t played well as a forward, hasn’t been impressive and his preseason characterised by his lack of fitness… has been a complete non-factor so far.
I’d have preferred Sharman by a long shotop but not overly damaging. Hope to see Bytel get in amongst or some more. Made a bad decision early but he looks a goer for me
There's a fair amount of irony in these statements, probably for the same reason too many fans went way too early on Sharman and thought he was the answer to our next forward line super star.
Here we go again we are calling a player garbage after 2 quarters, just hilarious considering Cordy at least has some credits in the bank, namely he's played in a flag, time will tell that could be his peak but I don't need another minute of watching either player to know Cordy is the player 18 out of 18 coaches would have Cordy over Sharman on an AFL field for the time being.

I said it was a garbage decision and your criticism has nothing to do with the form parameters I mentioned. Try not to let your bias get in the way.
Is Cordy even playing still? 3 touches. Close to worst on ground
