With the size of freo do we play cordy back and bring in Campbell
I was looking at what we should do with our side and now I see Freo are playing 4 bigs I really feel we should play cordy as a back move stocker on the interchange, and bring in Campbell for jimmy webster in the forward line.
With these changes it allows us to be more flexible with our team in playing Campbell in the ruck and at times Marshall in the forward line it would be pretty potent with marshall.
And if it didn't work we could always sub one of the guys out for webster at 23 man.

You might find Campbell is the Sub, for all the reasons you mentioned. But it becomes plan B not plan A.

I dont think we have the cattle to worry about aerial dominance.
We will need to apply non stop pressure on their defence and try and take the ball from clearance.
The aim should be to win, not to match positional tactics with Fremantle.
Plan B wouldnt really include Campbell unless Marshal got held up with injury.

Campbell is too slow and too C grade, he'll be a break glass type player only.
And so a very low percentage tactic to try and win ruck contests with such a player.
RoMa's strength is playing like an extra midfielder, that's where he'll be trying to get an advantage over Darcy and Jackson.

Im sure it is something Fremantle will try (stretching our defence), but I doubt it will be for long periods. If they do LYON will back Webster or Stocker to manage the extra tall or even have Sharman available as the sub. Campbell just doesnt provide enough when forward, hence Cordy being used as the 2nd ruckman and our forward setup remaining pretty mobile.

Especially with North's number 1 ruckman just went down leaving them without an established ruckman.
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Its not like WCE have Natanui, Combden will do the job. Losing Marshall is just the risk we have to take I guess, again thats why I believe Sharman will be sub.Bruce G McAbee wrote: ↑Sat 18 Mar 2023 2:18pmEspecially with North's number 1 ruckman just went down leaving them without an established ruckman.

Some very good points but if the club rates Campbell as only a c grade player why is he still on list and why didn't we target a ruck during the SSP or draft periods there were a few around. It does leave us extremely venerable if Row goes down like last season we are then left with Campbell, heath, Adams, does not in still a lot of confidence especially if Campbell is not up to it.

Campbell would have played a lot more senior games at North, but Goldy's form as the main ruck kept him outSaints58 wrote: ↑Sun 19 Mar 2023 2:14pmVortex wrote: ↑Sat 18 Mar 2023 2:06pm Campbell is too slow and too C grade, he'll be a break glass type player only.

Watching the GWS game today, without talls in the forward line they are really exposed. Every F50 entry looks poor. Partially because their entries are average, but mostly because they have no targets.

They weren't when I wrote that, and their entries improved significantly since then. If we struggle with our entries today it will be something the players need to watch.

Re: With the size of freo do we play cordy back and bring in Campbell
My guess is Campbells price was minimum wage and there weren't really any other viable options for a ruckman at the time, even a backup ruckman, and remembering we made a serious play for Norths other ruckman in Xerri so it's not as thought the club didn't know what is obvious to us. The market was, and still is really limited for proven ruckman.Saints58 wrote: ↑Sun 19 Mar 2023 2:14pmVortex wrote: ↑Sat 18 Mar 2023 2:06pm Campbell is too slow and too C grade, he'll be a break glass type player only.

I was please to be proved wrong with brining in Campbell as long as we won the the game and we did it well.
Do we now put someone on the long term injury list to open up a spot at the mid season draft could pick up someone good.
