that puts everything into perspective. Appreciate team isn't final but in saying thatsaynta wrote: ↑Wed 15 Mar 2023 1:31pm List size...44 players
Injured ....14 players
Available for selection....30 players
Side ...23 players plus 3 emergencies....total 26 players
Balance....4 players for Sandi.
If you can't get a game now or at least be on standby as an emergency...things aren't looking to bright for you at Moorabbin.
( apart from Heath and Peris...two project players)
* Stocker in over Paton and Webster? That has SOS all over it. Webster is no frills but will hold most players and Paton had a poor year coming of a horrific injury but should bounce back
* Mids are the best available which is bad news when Byrnes is a starter
* Bradley Hill a CHF. is it too early to call "TANKING"
* Cordy in over Sharman, he will be gone next year and probably be a star for another team
* Ross has said Pou & Caminiti are playing so not sure who the other 2 players will be as all have claims

Re: Round 1 side
Sharman will on the bench..we're kidding ourselves if we think two young guys are going to contribute to a winning score against a strong, experienced backline. We really need a big game from our mids, and that includes getting on the scoreboard.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Thu 16 Mar 2023 7:54pmthat puts everything into perspective. Re: Round 1 side
It looks like the strategy is to use the first 4-5 weeks to figure out if any of the new recruits have bypassed the 2022 listed players.
Cordy and Stocker on notice, they need to perform early.

Re: Round 1 side
I’d play new guy Caminetti. No way I’d play Byrnes unless we’re tanking. The kid is a turnover king

Re: Round 1 side
Windhager is a lock if fit
Phillipou hit the scoreboard in both practice games so I’d say he is in
Paton can play back and now wing, so I reckon he gets the nod over Webster
It sounded like Caminiti is in according to RTB on FC.
Which would may Bytel the sub. Bytel comes in if Windy doesn’t get up, and perhaps Sharman as the sub.
Personally I would make Caminiti the sub and have Bytel on the bench even if Windy is fit. Caminiti probably has the least match fitness of anyone in the squad and bringing him in the 3rd quarter might prove a handful for a tiring defence.

Re: Round 1 side
My guess is Byrnes, like a few others, will continue to get games while there is an injury crisis, he's an outside runner with poor disposal skills and and doesn't win his own ball, can Lyon improve him?
I think Caminiti and Cordy will play, it's looking like Cordy is suffering from reverberations out of the the internet echo chambers, you'd think any astute and rational fan would at least watch him play a game of AFL before turning on him. Puzzling.

Re: Round 1 side
It won't surprise me if Sharman plays, we have literally run out of AFL capable players, and by a fair margin, the injury crisis is far more worse than anything Ratts or Richo ever experienced.spert wrote: ↑Thu 16 Mar 2023 8:00pmSharman will on the bench..we're kidding ourselves if we think two young guys are going to contribute to a winning score against a strong, experienced backline. It's astounding that fans don't get this and are complaining about selections this week.

Sharman and Campbell not in main group today but Seb Ross was. Maybe a late change.

If Caminiti and Phil in then my guess is Bytel and Windy if fit, if not then Paton(who played wing v Essendon)
Cordy relief ruck
Perhaps Sharman emerg

Re: Round 1 side
Entirely sensible 22 has now been named (you can see it on saints.com.au).
Webster needed to be in and is. Windhager not ready, so Bytel the obvious replacement. Philipou and Caminiti to debut. No Sharman, although he's presumably a shot for being named the emergency (though surely Paton would be a better option).

Re: Round 1 side
I don't really understand Windhager as an emergency either he is fit enough to play and should be in the side or he is not fit and should be left out entirely.

Re: Round 1 side
I am tipping that Sharman will be the emergency.
Not "Simon Templar". He was here first. Please change my username to Bumstead and if possible make me one of those very large sandwiches, thanks!

Paton makes the most sense, covers more contingencies. God help us if Marshall goes down (at anytime)!

Bytel named in the centre. Not sure if I am relieved or overjoyed. Great selection by Ross the Boss though.meher baba wrote: ↑Fri 17 Mar 2023 5:04pm Entirely sensible 22 has now been named (you can see it on saints.com.au).

100%, excited for Bytel to get the opportunity. Fingers crossed this is the beginning of sustained opportunities and form.saynta wrote: ↑Fri 17 Mar 2023 6:06pmBytel named in the centre.
