He did a pretty good job of discussing another club when he didn't want to discuss another club.

Well, he's right. Our mistake was re-appointing the man for two years when we simply didn't need to.

Ken is only conveying what most fair minded people in the industry think. It was breathtaking incompetence on Bassett's behalf and there is absolutely no doubt is was poor treatment.

It was a bad look and hard on Ratts personally, but it was still the right call. The absolute is he shouldnt have been given a contract extension mid season and Lethlean and the board stuffed up big time on that.

However the review started by Bassatt and Ratts subsequent removal was the correct way to go. It wouldnt be St Kilda if we didnt have drama involving coaches, what else would the media report on!

I think Hinkley is just trying to shore up his own job. It is quite remarkable that he has managed to stay at Port for 10 years without a premiership, just 3 prelims.

He would be well aware that the proverbial axe is in a raised position in 2-team Adelaide, more than likely the only reason he's been spared is that the Crows have not won a premiership since 1998.

Nonetheless, I do rate Hinkley as a senior coach - a bold prediction for 2023: if Carlton miss the finals this year Michael Voss will get the chop and the Blues will sign Hinkley.....

"Any candidate for political office, once chosen for leadership, must have the will to take the wheel of a very powerful car, tasked from time to time to make a fast journey down a narrow, precipitous mountain road – and be highly skilled at driving. Otherwise, he is disqualified from the company of competent leaders."

Just 3 prelims? Crickey his record is killing anything we've achieved in that time, JHF will be the difference, expect them to make the finals, possibly top 4.

If he wins a flag this year his record will be fairly impressive, most StKilda supporters would take 1 flag in 10 years.

The re-signing mid year then sacking months later was a ridiculous series of events, no one could argue differently with a straight face.

The issue tho (as others have said) was the re-signing, the sacking was the right call, glad they still went thru with it knowing the optics.

Wow check out GT! Serious balls to say that.

They have all that peer respect and all..I thought

Would have thought Ken had been more than decent coach, maybe a tad lucky to still be at it.

I thought he might be up there. Port were at the pits when he came in. Around 2010 was the nadir of Adelaide clubs.

Ratts’s management forced Sr Kilda to either a) prematurely acquiesce or b) hold out and have to deal with Ratts and his management and the press harangue them all season.

They did the former, maybe not in squeaky clean good faith..

The caveat for this line of thinking is that the St Kilda wasn’t a mess at the time and had lost control of the ship.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Maybe a bit of form between Grant and Hinkley. After all he did walk out or was sacked by the Saints shortly after that Clown Blight was given his marching orders.

Wasn’t Ratts signed up on the proviso that they still had to make the 8 or at the very least not fall away like they did?

Hmmm…

I hadn’t heard that before.

Bit of a game changer if true IMO. If that was some kind of a get out clause then for me… it completely resolves the club of major idiocy

I called my Mum a bitch once, she refused to cook food for me for a month, as a 5 year old that was tough.

We have no right to slag him.

Since he became coach we've beaten PA just once, and had to kick the most accurate score in AFL history to do so.

Plus we selcted Scott Watters over him in a two-horse race.

He's got a right to dislike us.

No game I want to win more this year that the one against Port.

Hmm.

Didn’t Port make a fuss about releasing Richo to come and coach us a few years ago?

While they didn’t exactly stop him, they didn’t seem too concerned about him as a free individual pursuing career and professional development opportunities.

Perhaps Hinkley should look at how his club has behaved in the past rather than pointing the finger.
