How was that cheating?

This will be good.
This is not a doctored pitch.
There is no pitch.
All I see is green.

Green Acres is the place to be.
Farm livin' is the life for me.
Land spreadin' out so far and wide
Keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside.

New York is where I'd rather stay.
I get allergic smelling hay.
I just adore a penthouse view.
Dah-ling I love you but give me Park Avenue.

...The chores.
...The stores.
...Fresh air.
...Times Square

You are my wife.
Good bye, city life.
Green Acres we are there.

Haha

You can’t be guilty of pitch doctoring if there is no pitch 😆

Cricket is played on turf wickets (except if you play in hard wicket competitions)

If you want a 4th day pitch, look at what they were playing on in Adelaide today

In Adelaide they were playing on a cricket pitch

Providing opportunity to both pace and slow bowlers - and batsmen

It's disgraceful that a number of second rate spin bowlers have now been picked for the Indian tour, including one who was always going to return home, while Adam Zampa is constantly overlooked.

That pitch was blatant cheating.
yep.

Exactly what one would expect in the sub continent.

Look at Zampa’s First Class record

Exclusively a short form bowler

It is interesting that South Africa came here with a much vaunted pace attack - and were served up a weather impacted green top in Brisbane

Mind you, Head made runs, and quickly

The rest?

Since when do you have to provide for both pace and spin?

Some countries pitches are weighted toward pace (like ours) and some toward spin.

The Brisbane pitch delivered 4 more wickets in 100 less overs than the recent Indian one.

Which was the sh*t pitch again?

I, probably the same as you, prefer a more ‘traditional’ Australian pitch, but I understand that’s probably because I grew up in Australia! Variety and uniqueness across countries (and even grounds) is what makes cricket interesting.

Though if I had to choose between the two, I’d rather a pitch than leans towards the bowlers more than the batters, nothing worse than both teams scoring 500 on a road.

Where is a new ball taken by slow bowlers?

And where is a new ball not taken by slow bowlers?

Do you see slow bowlers taking the new ball in England, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies so all the non Asian playing Nations?

Interesting is that Murphy adapted, putting side spin on the ball and at 95kph with the pitch then seeing some balls turn and others not (all with the same revs) replicating the Indian slow bowlers

So not the over spin he relies on in Australia, looking for bounce

Lyon does not and can not adapt - hence my references to lack of variation and lack of guile

Why is that?

Given Murphy’s start, we should not put too much expectation on him including because the Indians will seek to counter him as they counter Lyon

But he has demonstrated already he is an off spin bowler capable of reading and using the conditions on offer

And he has taken 6 more wickets on debut than Warne did, against the same opponent

Whatever the vagaries of pitches in different parts of the world and how they’re prepared, selectively watering outside the right handlers off stump and not outside the left handlers is next level. Unsporting at best, outright cheating at worst. Not surprised though. I think I detest the Indians more than the Poms.

Warne averaged 43 in India, Lyon averages 33 there… 🤷‍♂️

And Agar opened the bowling at the SCG only a few weeks ago 😉

Bad optics, but had zero impact in the game or on the result in the end.

I have no problem how a pitch is prepared

Dry, green, hard whatever?…

Batters need to be able to adapt!

But the pitch MUST be prepared the same way for the whole pitch

Batters can adapt on a uniform pitch - but when the ball reacts differently from different places - and one team has a clear advantage

It’s doctoring - therefore cheating

Result is irrelevant it was a doctored pitch. Can anyone remember Australia doing this?

Nope. Agree with Mart. To selectively water the pitch because the oppo has lots of left handers is way over the line. Disgraceful. What I expect from the Indians though. Next level cheating.

Nah, waste of time when it’s much easier to just doctor the ball instead 😉

Yep sandpaperinf the all was inexcusable. Different thing though when a few players have a hard brained scheme compared to a pitch being deliberately selectively prepared by curators

Allegedly, there used to be an Australian rules football club based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, where the sprinklers were turned overnight on an otherwise rain-soaked and already well-moistened surface at their home ground.

I am sure it can't be true.

I expect in a few years time (after a few player retirements) we might find out that ‘sandpapergate’ went a bit higher than we’ve been lead to believe!

Big deal players were given a greater penalties than any other previous players guilty of ball tampering. Australia saw it and punished here we have Indian curators clearly cheating and its accepted.
