All interesting comments, especially the ones that are not trying to bait other posters with nothing more than self flagellation as they enjoy their bait fuelled post.
Excellent observations & contributions StB & Firey. Thankyou.

Couldn’t agree more Firey/St BThe Fireman wrote: ↑Fri 03 Feb 2023 4:39pmi sometimes get bored and switch off half way through pressers.st.byron wrote: ↑Fri 03 Feb 2023 10:41amRegarding the changes in training - the most telling thing from Cal Willie's presser that Saynta posted a link to yesterday was a reference he made - about half way through - to everyone having buy in and being on the same page. Next sentence he said there was division in the group previously. A telling reference to the dysfunction in the coaching group and players in the last half of last year. We were a house divided and we played like it.Teflon wrote: ↑Thu 02 Feb 2023 11:05pmSpot on FireyThe Fireman wrote: ↑Wed 01 Feb 2023 4:17pm Well I’m so glad RTB is in charge now. Can’t imagine how far they would have dropped if we hadn’t made the big change
Below from Stav on BF articulates the shift at the club already - re skills we need to
1. Train under that intense pressure to improve it
2. Develop players where we can to improve
3. Recruit players with the right skill attributes
It’s why I do hope guys like Connolly make it….has natural skill …..needs to learn how to apply those consistently at top levels

There are probably upwards of 10 posters on here - who have all been.
And we have all said the same thing.
It’s a completely different place.
Those of us thst have managed to talk to players - all the same.
They all say it’s been bloody tough. Harder then they imagined, that they are learning so much during the video sessions and during training itself - but they all are enjoying being at the Moorabbin now.
There's not much more dispiriting than a workplace where management are dysfunctional and the place is consequently divided. Must be a breath of fresh air for all the players.
Not this one, wilkie is sharp as a tack articulated the mood that leaves no doubt about the clubs endeavour.
I picked up on that StB and couldn't help being vindicated for being an RTB fanboy. and what about the chestnut "Ross won't wait for anyone "
The club has been injected with spine and determination and find hard to believe all on here cant see that.
That’s how I heard it too
It was obviously broken that connection
I too am happy to labelled a RTB fanboy
I couldn’t care less as long as we inject some professionalism into the joint
Hallelujah!

Can sympathise and wonder what more can be done and want to improve but its specifics on the directives, role definition and targets that can really drive performance. I think. Plus focused training.
When coaches start resorting to emotional pleading/generalisations…they’re out of ideas
I was a critic of GT at times for this…he was all “belief clouds” “KPIs” “attitude and belief” “hearts n mind” stuff
All good rally cry stuff …problems arise though when you’ve heard it 20 times …
To hear players are actually being instructed and learning is massive
I get the feel the Pies coach isn’t all emotional bluster…he’s a teacher …
About time we had that in the place

Re: Training
Hi everyone,
Hope you're all doing well. Thanks for these updates. Bloody great stuff.
Has anyone seen much of Van Es yet? Keen to hear how he's progressing, given our neverending need for another key back.
Happy new year to you all

Re: Training
First session I watched I was impressed by Van Ed
Big and moved well
Second session was very underwhelmed
Poor hands and was kicking it poorly
But
That was probably just a young player having a bad day
Reminds me of a young Goose Maguire

Re: Training
Thanks B.M., from what you've seen, do you think Van Es will play AFL this season? Goose was a ripper, a lot worse players to be compared to.

Re: Training
Van Es interesting one been watching a bit at training , going to sound strange but I think he’s a forward that’s
been played out position as a junior , he’s Jake Carlisle type for mine , the reason I think is his mental approach to kicking
the football, kicks the ball long way when kicking at goal …being tried recently as forward ..think Owens is in front
of him at this stage ..but just my opinion think he could develop as a forward contrary to being recruited as a backline
player.

Re: Training
Interesting lloyd21 if that's the case. Naughton from the Dogs was recruited as a back. Fingers crossed.

Re: Training
His hands are nowhere near that of Carlisle and Naughton
He’s a lump of a lad, moves alright
But he’s very raw and he needs work on his touch and skill

Re: Training
I have seen van es at training a few times and last week was the best I think he has been playing as a forward which I really think where he should play. He is a elite runner, and has a great vertical but needs to loose a bit at 197cm he is 98kg the club has said he should loose a few kg and be more mobile.
I did notice he was holding his position against battle who was trying to push him off his line but he actually pushed battle so he is very strong but still raw.

Re: Training
Okay, that's interesting in regards to Van Es. Certainly is a large unit. Hopefully we get a good look at him during the practice matches.
Thanks for the info everyone. Much appreciated.

Re: Training
Effectively, away on camp, giving Friday & the weekend off before disappearing on camp this week. Does it matter or is this an "inside info" flex?

It’s nice to have the facts. I saw a player today out and about today and wondered why he wasn’t on camp.

Agree with all of this. I also saw Dougal bounce of him as well. Strong kid. He sort of gives me Tex Walker vibes(btw, I ain't a Tex fan!)Saints58 wrote: ↑Sun 05 Feb 2023 12:25am I have seen van es at training a few times and last week was the best I think he has been playing as a forward which I really think where he should play. Ahh Tex Walker. What a lowlife. Once he retires from playing he won't have much going for him.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

How do you know? He's actually a really decent fella. Some blind spots like all of us, but a genuine guy.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Mon 06 Feb 2023 8:03am Ahh Tex Walker. What a lowlife. Once he retires from playing he won't have much going for him.

I don't, I'm just going by his actions off the football field which hasn't been too flattering. I hope I'm wrong.st.byron wrote: ↑Mon 06 Feb 2023 11:08amHow do you know?
