Player sponsorship 2023

As stated previously I don’t plan to run the sponsorship next year but if no one starts a thread it won’t happen. There’s no guarantee that it will happen but here’s the thread in case it does.

In 2022 we sponsored Ryan Byrnes and Cooper Sharman. They are both still listed as Academy players and would cost $2350 to sponsor for 2023.

I think the easiest thing is to do shares at $23.50 and then we would have 100 shares.

People can pledge shares here and hopefully someone will see it as a viable concern and take over the running.

The club have said we have until January 16 to confirm we want to go ahead with one of our existing players.

I’ll start us off with five shares. Only 95 to go!

Can I ask what happens to the funds - does it become part of the players salary etc? I would like to see the club have the sponsorship monies go towards some personal development eg studies. Ensure the players have interests outside of footy and prepare for life after footy.

I think we can pledge as many shares as we like but no one is taking on the responsibility. I'd do 4 shares but ultimately no one will take on the responsibility kosi managed so well.

The wife and I have decided to make a family pledge for sponsorship this year as the opportunity to travel more often to Melb has arisen, so I won't be buying shares.

I would be interested in 10 shares - however - unfortunately - I have started a new job and studies so would not be able to co-ordinate the overall sponsorship - and it appears not to have any traction or interest anyway.

Collect the money - be the contact - pay the money - run the raffles - follow up with people to distribute prizes - Be a legend [well that's how Kosi did it]

Pretty much what Sainter Dad said except for the legend bit.

In other news I have been contacted by a poster who has said they will underwrite any shortcoming. I trust this person who has communicated the same offer in past years but it has never been necessary to take up the offer.

On that basis we should assume we are going ahead although it would be good to minimise our benefactor's exposure.
