He does need to get stronger. Bigger.
Or he is just limiting his options.

Why does Hunter need to get bigger?
IMO
Just needs to get fitter
If anything he needs to lose a couple of KGs
His pot and love handles for a start

Re: 2023 is a big year for Hunter
He is listed at 186cms and 80 kgs.
Sorry, but that is pretty damn light.
Steel for example is 1cm taller and EIGHT kgs heavier.
He could do with losing what appears to be puppy fat... STILL.
And replacing it with muscle. Surely he would be better off at say 85kgs.

I’d just like to see him get fitter.
Would love to here that he’s one of the best runners at the club

Re: 2023 is a big year for Hunter
Why limit his development to just being a better runner, he needs to develop an AFL ready physique and fitness. Bigred is right another 5kgs of lean muscle would help him hugely IMO.
Even if he only secures a HBF position so extra stength would take his game to another level.

Would be great to see Hunter finally being known as one of the hardest workers at the club. Compare him to a guy like Ross for example who consistently does the work.
No question he has the talent but I’d love to see the application

Re: 2023 is a big year for Hunter
How about Nasiah
Who is 187 and 71
I can give you a hundred examples of star players who are lean (which is the current trend in footy to strip weight)
Sam Walsh is lean, Darcy Parish is small, Lachie Whitfield is skinny
The thing they can all do, is run.
Modern game - you need to be able to run
Steele is naturally a big lad, and he plays as a bull inside mid

Re: 2023 is a big year for Hunter
This time last year myself and another saints man spoke to Brett Ratten..he made a surprisingly Frank comment about both Hunter Clark & Coffield both unable to go with their opponents when playing in defence, this related to the 2021 season.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 04 Jan 2023 9:13pm Why limit his development to just being a better runner, he needs to develop an AFL ready physique and fitness. Coffield got himself really fit last year but sadly did his knee, Clark didn’t seem to do the work & finds himself in a difficult situation regarding his relevance in the game!

Re: 2023 is a big year for Hunter
Its amazing how many people cant see his lack of development as simply not doing the work. I think that was highlighted by the club putting Clark on the trade market. Hopefully that rocket works otherwise he wont be at the club next year?Saintmike65 wrote: ↑Thu 05 Jan 2023 9:54amThis time last year myself and another saints man spoke to Brett Ratten..he made a surprisingly Frank comment about both Hunter Clark & Coffield both unable to go with their opponents when playing in defence, this related to the 2021 season.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 04 Jan 2023 9:13pm Why limit his development to just being a better runner, he needs to develop an AFL ready physique and fitness. BM have a look at Nasiah's current build to this time last year he is noticeably bigger now. If a skinny kids like Nasiah and Sharman can add lean muscle Im sure Hunter can!

I was at training pre Christmas
NWM is wafer thin
His legs are skin and bone
His upper body is light, but at least has tone

Nasiah & Hunter, ready made male model material?
Perhaps an eau de parfum:
"NaH": when size don't matter.
Your performance should smell so good.

Nasiah has the classic sleek indigenous build, he will never have big legs, but you can notice his upper body has changed.

NWM is an outside wing/runner
IF Clark is to play midfield he needs a little more size for sure - Lyon (abd Misson) previously have displayed a like for bigger bodied mids through “more meat n potatoes” so be interested to see how Clark goes.
He absolutely has to improve his running capacity that’s a given fir todays mids
If he can’t he’s gone end year
“Yeah….nah””

Re: 2023 is a big year for Hunter
Trouble is, Hunter is built like a wingman but doesn’t have the tank to cope with playing there!!Teflon wrote: ↑Thu 05 Jan 2023 11:13pmCorrectImpatient Sainter wrote: ↑Thu 05 Jan 2023 4:53pmNasiah has the classic sleek indigenous build, he will never have big legs, but you can notice his upper body has changed.

Re: 2023 is a big year for Hunter
Other than half back he really doesn’t seem to have a role, and we are not short in that position.Saintmike65 wrote: ↑Fri 06 Jan 2023 1:02pmTrouble is, Hunter is built like a wingman but doesn’t have the tank to cope with playing there!!Teflon wrote: ↑Thu 05 Jan 2023 11:13pmCorrectImpatient Sainter wrote: ↑Thu 05 Jan 2023 4:53pmNasiah has the classic sleek indigenous build, he will never have big legs, but you can notice his upper body has changed.

Still I would not argue with Sinclair, Billings & Clarke playing that position this season.
