"Through the support of Moorabbin Airport and the AFL, we will also be piloting an elite female academy for multicultural and Indigenous females in bayside aged 16 to 19 to receive the same support and resources that the current boys do"
So if the best 16 yr old girl available happens to be just a plain old white girl , she will just have to look elsewhere? Just ridiculous! The idea in its self is great. To get the best young girls in our area in the set up AWESOME but to limit it to this is crazy I hope this isnt a example of the club looking though things with a more "Football lens"

Do you have the same issues with us drafting Windhager, Owens, Peris or McClennan through the same male program?
Or Cam McKenzie if we had of had the chance to get him?
Or are the concerns only there because the people are so far faceless, and you don’t see it as a win yet?
Pull your heads in guys.
It is about lifting others up to bring the game to people that otherwise wouldn’t have played it. Not everyone gets the same chance to have a decent crack at making the AFL. This system brings people in, and lifts the entire game.
The club has shown before we don’t just take the players because they think it’s the done thing (re. Biggy), but they do grab the players if it is the right decision at the time.
And saying things like “just saying!” Doesn’t excuse you from your ignorance.

Yes it must of been hall on earth for Owens and Windghager growing up in the houseing estates of Sandringham , Dad was on the dole and the piss and Mum was working the cr and all the kids had to play with was a plastic football. But thank goodness for the policies of the St Kilda football club that gave them a go that they would never have got normally, but thats not what happen both of them came up though the system.Sport in its basic form is about and should always be is the skill of the individual not the colour of your skin so to make up for real or imaged sins of the past dont commit the same now. Lose the 2022 "woke" terms and get us back too our core and that is we are a Football clubBernard Shakey wrote: ↑Mon 26 Dec 2022 11:44amYou have no idea what you're talking about!Sebastian Tombs wrote: ↑Mon 26 Dec 2022 11:36am "Do you have the same issues with us drafting Windhager, Owens, Peris or McClennan through the same male program?" It’s like the international rookies. The additional spot opens up and is paid for by areas that have the vested interest in growing the game outside of the country.
Those channels aren’t well developed and won’t produce quality players under their old system as the participation and opportunities weren’t there.
No one is disadvantaged
The principle is with the extra focus you can develop into an area that in itself wouldn’t make it on its own in the current system… with the view that grow that area and raise the standard over time that it functions independently or at least a lot better than before.
I agree with you though…
Lousy mooching disadvantaged ppl. They have all the advantages given to them on a platter with these specialised programs. Frankly it’s a wonder why more ppl don’t aspire to be poor

In this country there once was the notion of helping others, giving someone a fair go, helping to lift someone out of poverty. But some posts on this thread just tell me that racism is alive and well on here as well as in society in general. People like you probably bitch about migrants who don’t assimilate into our society but then bitch about a program that encourages it.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

God. In the 60's my dad hated Pizza, because it was wog food. In the 70's pizza hut came along and American wog food was good.
The AFL is the disadvantaged entity, when it comes to AFL, historically, its fan base didn't like wog food, which didn't matter, cause words played soccer.
Now soccer is causing a threat to your 'traditional football club' so we serve pizza and kebabs at the footy and invite talented wogs to play AFL in the park.at Moorabbin.
Simples.

That last comment, which was distinctly contrary to the sections before it was, very clearly sarcastic (or so I thought I mean obviously nobody is reasonably arguing that the poor are more advantaged than the rich).
If you read the thread… I think I’m pretty clearly pro all this. For the record, 1st generation, poor, maybe not disadvantaged like other communities but we had our own challenges and this forum has well and truly taught me that racism is alive and well.

Re: Saints Academy gears up for big 2023
It’s a wonder that there were any decent humans around that were brave enough to prevent total extermination and genocide of our indigenous folk.
I bet there are very good odds that the whites who protested against the treatment of Aborigines in the 1800’s and throughout early last century weren’t related to a poster called Sebastian Tombs
I’m willing to say that Sebastian Tombs thinks his ancestors stuffed up. He knows his ancestors didn’t hunt down and shoot every last black that ever lived here on this land…and he regrets that
The white settlers who colonised ‘terra nullius’ and built fences around ‘their property’ weren’t thinking far enough ahead
When they were herding the blacks off cliffs they let too many of them get away.
When they were separating families and stealing the children to try and make them white they also stuffed up. Should have just euthanised the kids and let the blacks starve and poison their drinking water. Or better still, should have tested more nuclear weapons next to the various ‘happy valley’ settlements where they lived

Thanks for the note. Question regarding this post :
"Through the support of Moorabbin Airport and the AFL, we will also be piloting an elite female academy for multicultural and Indigenous females in bayside aged 16 to 19 to receive the same support and resources that the current boys do"
So if the best 16 yr old girl available happens to be just a plain old white girl , she will just have to look elsewhere? Just ridiculous! The idea in its self is great. To get the best young girls in our area in the set up AWESOME but to limit it to this is crazy I hope this isnt a example of the club looking though things with a more "Football lens"
Is that racist or is it someone who doesn't understand the way the system works? Seems to me Skeptic summed it up with :
"That’s not how that works. Nothing is being taken away, more is being added."
Sebastian seems to think the initiative limits general participation and Skeptic has clarified that.

Yes I agree racism can be implied. ST did also say in his post that, "the idea itself is great" which leads me to conclude that he thinks it's a good idea but not if it costs another more talented person an opportunity. My reading of it is that Skeptic clarified that in his subsequent post.happy feet wrote: ↑Tue 27 Dec 2022 10:29amThanks for your quick consideration. We will have to agree to disagree. Grey area for me as to whether the 'implied racism' is intentional. Rules state that a racist post should be met with a permanent ban. I need to be very sure the racism is intended.

You should probably delete this it's incredibly embarrassing on numerous levelsSebastian Tombs wrote: ↑Mon 26 Dec 2022 12:38pmYes it must of been hall on earth for Owens and Windghager growing up in the houseing estates of Sandringham , Dad was on the dole and the piss and Mum was working the cr and all the kids had to play with was a plastic football. Lose the 2022 "woke" terms and get us back too our core and that is we are a Football clubBernard Shakey wrote: ↑Mon 26 Dec 2022 11:44amYou have no idea what you're talking about!Sebastian Tombs wrote: ↑Mon 26 Dec 2022 11:36am "Do you have the same issues with us drafting Windhager, Owens, Peris or McClennan through the same male program?" Really! Fact check that .You bring these names up proves the fact things happen naturely
The future's so bright I've got to wear shades...
