Is Nick US bound?
https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/ ... 0e8c9c6e40
"St Kilda great Nick Riewoldt is a star on Fox Footy and is being headhunted to replace Ross Lyon on Footy Classified. But will he be on TV at all next year? Here’s the latest.
Sam Landsberger
Fox Footy is awaiting a call on whether star analyst and former St Kilda champion Nick Riewoldt will return to its screens in 2023.
The Herald Sun understands Riewoldt, 40, is considering living overseas in the United States next year.
Fox confirmed it had been negotiating with the out-of-contract Riewoldt and was awaiting his decision.
Riewoldt was also believed to be high on Nine’s list to replace Ross Lyon on Footy Classified.
Lyon has left the free-to-air network to return to St Kilda as senior coach.
The Herald Sun reported last month that Nine was also courting Jordan Lewis, another Fox Footy talent, to replace Lyon.
If Riewoldt departs Fox Footy, it’s believed he is most likely to live overseas with his family.
His departure would be a blow for the network, given Riewoldt starred in multiple programs and live coverage of blockbuster matches.
Riewoldt would leave a hole in flagship Monday night program On The Couch, where he analyses the weekend’s games alongside Jonathan Brown and host Garry Lyon.
The five-time All Australian also appeared on Fox Footy’s new Saturday night live entertainment show Best On Ground, alongside host Mark Howard, Nathan Buckley, Kath Loughnan and Brown.
Riewoldt was often a guest host on AFL360 and he filled in for Wayne Carey alongside Ross Lyon on Triple M this year.
Riewoldt and Garry Lyon formed a great on-air partnership and delivered brilliant insights on On The Couch and Fox’s live coverage from grounds.
The 336-game player has been a major part of the Fox Footy family since 2018, signing at the network immediately after retiring from the Saints.
In the past five seasons he has become one of the most respected voices in the game and one of the faces of Fox Footy.
His opinions on the Saints in 2023 would make fascinating viewing after the club recruited his former coach, Ross Lyon.
Riewoldt’s forthright opinions often set the footy agenda and last June he urged the Saints to chase Alastair Clarkson.
“You’d be derelict in your duty if you didn’t make the call (to Clarkson),” Riewoldt said.
Riewoldt also declared the Saints needed to cull their list hard to re-emerge as a legitimate premiership contender after missing the finals for the 10th time in 11 seasons.
The Tasmanian AFL taskforce member has been one of the strongest public advocates for the Apple Isle being granted the league’s 19th team.
Riewoldt’s wife, Catherine, is from Texas and they married in 2012 in Waco.
Riewoldt has been contacted for comment.

Sounds like the wife wants some time in the States before Nick committs to role at St.Kilda again.

It's only fair on Mrs R.
While Rooey was playing, she only saw her fam in December (unless she went over during the season?)
Fair's fair.

Nick has a secret affair with Rhonda Rousey. When she gives birth to blonde haired quintuplets rumours of the father's name leaks out. The trend of wokeness and tolerance continues unabated in Victoria and by the 2030s the state approves multi-partner marriages so Nick with his two partners and all of their children move to Brighton.
Not "Simon Templar". He was here first. Please change my username to Bumstead and if possible make me one of those very large sandwiches, thanks!

Re: Is Nick US bound?
Anyway, It seems that Nick's kids have spent a lot of their formative years in AFL territory and whatever he does we can't do anything about it. Picking out the negative issues the USA have is pointless in IMHO, and Australia has many similar situations anyway. Nick and his wife will know what is right for their family and his career - I just HOPE that the suggestion he may need to spend some time in the USA before returning to get back involved in footy is forthcoming.

Re: Is Nick US bound?
Obviously the man is mucho multi talented, can analyse, articulate and play Freddy Mercury amongst other characters perfectly. Unlike a lot of AFL past champs he doesn't seem to have drug, infidelity, fundamentalist or social justice issues dragging on him. Rare commodity. So having to share green room space with the likes of David King might turn thoughts to what might the big stage of USA offer. But over there smart good looking articulate all singing all dancing ex pro sports men and women are a dime a dozen. At 40 well removed from his on field starring days now's the time to cash in here (?). Could be hosting on the couch in 18 months and calling grandfinals, have his own production coy, take over SaintsTV , sorry Jake. A year or more out of the scene and a fair bit of his currency might wane; that ugly cousin from Richmond is lurking. Just visit in the offseason, eh?

Sorry Nick, the grass always looks greener in a different backyard.
USA is not a good alternative for a middle aged dad who is on a cruise control financially. Just doesn’t make any sense.
I am expecting him to be back in 2024 In Melbourne.

Yes, it takes a particular type of person/family that would want to live in Texas - even for a year. I think Cath and Nick are those sort of people. But he was a bloody good footballer.

Re: Is Nick US bound?
A very good decision for the support his wife and her family have given him. I hope (& think) they will be back in Oz for 2024. I'd hate to see his three boys doing what Dustin Fletchers sons are doing in college football, being punters. I'd rather them as F&S's in the RW&B.
