Re: 3k trial
Hmmm.....Stocker last. An issue at Carlton was his poor tank, hence not playing midfield time there. Looks like there's quite a job for our fitness team to get to him AFL standard fitness. Would have thought he would have spent the off season absolutely hammering himself regarding fitness

Re: 3k trial
All of the new players ran except McLennan and Eyre. The latter two were training back at the club.Saintmike65 wrote: ↑Mon 05 Dec 2022 11:50amsaints4eva wrote: ↑Mon 05 Dec 2022 11:23am Group 1: Sharman comfortably from Higgins. Heath last

Nothing remarkable about the other newbies, they all completed the run and finished in the back half. Clark finished towards the rear in his group.

Re: 3k trial
Zac Jones was back at the club running with Billings. Others who didn’t complete the run, were Coffield, Battle, and Adams and Gresh.

Re: 3k trial
All depends on the gap between first and last. Could have been 15 seconds, could have been 30 seconds. Until we know that, we can't pile crap on Clark

Re: 3k trial
Just an uneducated opinion based on above, however unless he is injured how serious is Stocker about playing AFL?saints4eva wrote: ↑Mon 05 Dec 2022 11:23am Group 1: Sharman comfortably from Higgins. Heath last

You'd have thought he'd have done nothing but train and work on his deficiencies since the end of the season.
Look at Mason Wood.
Dumped by North and desperate to play at the level, leaves no stone unturned in his preparation.
A couple of years back when he was on the outer at GCS Peter Wright was training at the gym I go to and was busting his arse as he knew he was on the outer at the Suns and would only get one last shot at it.
He was doing F45 every morning, and hired personal running and strength and conditioning trainers.
In chatting to him he was really open about needing to show physicality and use his big body.
He probably should have done it at the Suns, but to his credit he has turned his career around.

Sounds like the heats were graded?saints4eva wrote: ↑Mon 05 Dec 2022 11:23am Group 1: Sharman comfortably from Higgins. Heath last

All the top runners in the Wood/ Windy heat?
Good on Sharman, given tony74 said Higgins was fit and fast the young fellow (Sharman) sounds like he is giving it everything to make it.

Re: 3k trial
Looking at photos of Mattaes Phillipou in time trial
Very much has the body of 17 year old about to turn 18 (very little upper body.........skinny arms)
Has the frame to build though..
will take a few pre seasons but will be a big boy

Re: 3k trial
Top 5 from the Saints website
Wood
Windhanger
Hill
Butler
Byrnes
The report of the groups being split into 2 (17 each), top tier and next seems correct. The article points out that Sharman finished just outside of the overall top 10 despite winning the second group

Re: 3k trial
Someone has to finish last, doesn't necessarily mean they went badly.

Re: 3k trial
If it is a 200cm & 100kg ruckman or KPP you'd expect them to be down back.
If it is a midfielder there is cause for concern if they are well off the pace.
