Post: # 1989120Post Saintmike65 »

I’ve compiled a shortlist of players that could be in our sights tonight:

* James Van Es - tall defender
* Brayden George - Forward/ mid
* Lewis Hayes - tall defender
* Olli Horton - forward/ mid
* Max Gruzewski - tall forward/ defender
* Coby Burgiel - mid / forward
* Isaac Keeler - forward/ ruck

Thanks Saintmike, I don't know much about the draft after the top 10, although I've heard good things about Burgiel and Keeler.

Thanks Saintmike65.
My acquaintance who is a recruiter said this guy is top 5-10 talent in this pool.
Obviously misses next year with a knee reco.
If we could sneak him in with our next pick could be a steal.
If we had of grabbed #25 for Long instead of #32 we'd just about be there I think.

Wonder if they look at Knobel with the pick in the 40s?

I also wouldnt be unhappy with any of Harry Barnett (ruckman), Caleb Mitchell (wingman), Harry Lemney (forward/ruck), Jaiden Magor (mid/forward), Jaxon Binns (wingman) or Phoenix Foster (forward/ruck).

James Van Es / Max Gruzewski

Cat B: McLennan (Our NGA seems to be producing some excellent young players - may it continue)

How come GWS can match a bid on their academy player in the first round and we can't?

Haven't the Sydney & Qld's got their own development academies which are different to NGA's? It's bullsh!t and semantics but that's the AFL.

ST KILDA

Draft picks: 31, 35, 44, 66

Who do took in first round: Mattaes Phillipou (pick 10)

Who’s in the mix after that: Coby Burgiel, James Van Es, Jaxon Binns, Harvey Gallagher, Noah Long, Angus McLennan (NGA), Clay Tucker

It is believed the Saints are among several clubs looking to get another pick in the second round of the draft. The Saints are fans of speedster Coby Burgiel if he gets to 31, but he may not get past a host of suitors before them. The draft range of key defender James Van Es begins at their third choice at 35, while they have shown interest in 19-year-old distributor Harvey Gallagher, wingman Jaxon Binns and small forward Noah Long, who could all come into the equation in the second-half of the draft. While they were unable to snare Mackenzie through their Next Generation Academy, they are likely to secure forgotten defender Angus McLennan as a Category B rookie. McLennan has endured a wretched run with injury but the 19-year-old has shown promise this year for St Kilda’s VFL affiliate the Sandringham Zebras and in the NAB League.

It’s so the AFL can remain fair and an equal playing field.

Was that why Brisbane was allowed to bid on Fletcher or was that father son?

Should have been our father /son as I was always pissed off that we didn't hang on to Fletcher back in the day.

Clarke has gone to the doggies. we evidently cut him from our NGA as a 15 year old.
Burgiel to the weagles.
George to Nth
Hayes to Essendon
Gruzewski to GWS

Saints just drafted James Van Es at 31.
