Any doubts he might have will be put to rest after he meets Lenny (if he hasn’t already).

Sounds like he will push himself like Windhager.

Says he wants to play at the MCG or at our home ground..not in Sth Aussie.Brunswicksainter wrote: ↑Mon 28 Nov 2022 8:30pmhttps://7news.com.au/sport/afl/south-au ... -c-8965148saynta wrote: ↑Mon 28 Nov 2022 8:29pmNot that I am aware.damienc wrote: ↑Mon 28 Nov 2022 8:24pmDid he really say he didn't want to play for the Saints?Brunswicksainter wrote: ↑Mon 28 Nov 2022 8:10pm Horrible selection. That’s nothing remotely like “I don’t want to play at Saints “ or “I’m going home”Brunswicksainter wrote: ↑Mon 28 Nov 2022 8:30pmhttps://7news.com.au/sport/afl/south-au ... -c-8965148saynta wrote: ↑Mon 28 Nov 2022 8:29pmNot that I am aware.damienc wrote: ↑Mon 28 Nov 2022 8:24pmDid he really say he didn't want to play for the Saints?Brunswicksainter wrote: ↑Mon 28 Nov 2022 8:10pm Horrible selection. He wants to play in Melbourne in front of big crowds at either G or Etihad???? “like all Melbourne clubs do”
That to me screams- I don’t want to play park footy back in SA
WTF you on about?

Re: Welcome Mattaes Phillipou
The kid has a lot of confidence and belief in himself. Nothing wrong with that. It will be interesting to see if he can live up to his expectations. Personally I thought he was a bit of a show pony but he has the size and he will definitely be a point of difference in our midfield. And I sincerely hope he proves me wrong and becomes a champion player for our footy club. Lenny and the boys will point him in the right direction I'm sure.SaintJohno wrote: ↑Mon 28 Nov 2022 8:36pmYeah, I thought he spoke well despite previous interviews making him look a bit full of himself. Sounded stoked to get to Victoria. I don't mind a bit of arrogance on the footy field as long as they can back it up. Petracca was thought to be full of himself at the time.

Re: Welcome Mattaes Phillipou
I’ve always wanted to be in the spotlight and play in front of big crowds,” Phillipou said.
“I want to get all the big games and all the Melbourne teams get that.
“It will awesome playing at the ‘G (MCG) every two weeks or at the Etihad.”

Re: Welcome Mattaes Phillipou
He comes across to me as one of those kids that’s always known what he wants and has that obsessive quality about him that makes him come across as a bit of a know it all.
My hope is that he’ll be one of those obsessive worker types like a Ben Cousins type that will break before he stops…
Seems like he knows what he wants and has a real winners mindset.
I reckon he might be one of those ppl that you meet and don’t necessarily take to right away because they come across as a little full of themselves but the bravado is more nerves and they’re actually quite nice (on the down low).
IMO is one of those refreshingly honest types
I like the pick

Re: Welcome Mattaes Phillipou
Get Riewoldt in front of him, and teach him how to channel that skill, drive and self belief. Rooey found a way to do that, and make himself the best he could be. Now for Pooey to do the same.

Yeah. He said he didn’t want to play at Seaford but news hasn’t reached SA yet that we’ve moved as they are a few years behind us.

This kid is exciting, in fact he and Windhager will be my favourite players next season!
192cm at 17 years of age…Chris Doere aka nightmare, had this kid ranked @ #2 in his rankings.

Re: Welcome Mattaes Phillipou
if no other serious footballer has Seaford on their playing day resume
why would he
Brunswick has his concerns ... fair enough
... deal with it
fairly would be helpful
reading his stuff accurately
might be a good place to start
fair dinkum
**** embarrassing

Re: Welcome Mattaes Phillipou
Has a very strong footballing pedigree with his Grandfather (Peter) tallying near 300 games with West Torrens and a polished performer (makes me feel even older!) and his father getting past 100 at Woodville West Torrens
He will reunite with Sharman and Hayes, both from Woodville West Torrens
We wish him a long and successful career at AFL level

Re: Welcome Mattaes Phillipou
How many sessions before RTB tells him to get the pumpkin off his head?
Great pick and we finally have the right coaching team to get the best out of him.

Get him with Windhager - Lovely sight - if we could get them both firing at what we consider their ceiling

Re: Welcome Mattaes Phillipou
Apparently born 27 December 04. Five days younger and he would not even be eligible for the draft . That logically means he has more potential upside than all the other boys selected .

Re: Welcome Mattaes Phillipou
Seems like a great kid to me, he is confident but not bigheaded.
He moves beautifully, is tough and kicks like a mule.
Perfect selection for us, and will mix in with NWM, Owens and Windhager as our under 20 midfield challenges the older brigade for spots in the starting 18.

Re: Welcome Mattaes Phillipou
How many games did we play at Seaford?
Funny that… I always thought Marvel was our home ground?
Still do???
