Re: Higgins
Great to here.
I was thinking today that the 2 things that potentially hold Higgins back are 1 his finishing and 2 his speed and fitness.
If he can improve his speed and fitness that would go a long way to elevating his game.

Re: Higgins
He was All Australian forward pocket a third of the way through last season.
By the end of the season he was barely best 22 at St Kilda.
Glad to hear he's looking good.

Re: Higgins
Someone said on here that only 16 at training today?
Is that normal at this time of year?
A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

Re: Higgins
Maybe RTB can make a few tweaks to make the Higgins and Butler small forward set up/tag team work a bit better. It doesn’t seem to have been working that well the last few years.

Re: Higgins
Jack's kicking for goal fell away and Dan doesn't seem a very long kick or good overhead.

Re: Higgins
Adams and Allison and Peris are a mile off it!
Yet to impress at VFL level
They’ve got this year to show a bit in the Seconds

Re: Higgins
Adams showed a bit last season with his intercept marking in a few games but he had recuring back problems.
He is a big unit at 198cm plays KPD and 84kg could be a good player if injury free still only 19 lets hope.

Re: Higgins
Higgins on his day, like Gresham are match winners. For some reason he lost confidence in the 2nd half of the season, but to have him back playing at his full potential will be terrific.

Re: Higgins
B.M. is one of the three closer than the rest?
I was hoping Peris would be our little lightning bolt thru the middle and even flashing around the goals. He seemed so fast.

Re: Higgins
I thought Peris showed plenty, he is lightning quick and tackles really solidly for a kid his size. He needs to tidy up his kicking but as a Cat B he is a good option.

Re: Higgins
Peris averaged around 10 ppg in the VFL playing wing and HB
Needs to impact more than that at that level, in those positions
Being fast doesn’t matter a fk if you don’t get your hands on the footy
Allison is a powerful runner, tall and is a good athlete- can’t get a kick
Adams - struggled

Re: Higgins
There are no free rides for anyone from here on.
Get really fit, work really hard and improve.
That will get you a game (maybe) in 2023.
One certainty, if you don't do any of those you won't.
Everything is on the line for RTB. Last chance saloon as an AFL coach.
Lenny, Banger and BJ never tasted premiership success as players. Now they get the chance as coaches.
An opportunity too good for them to pass up.
Finally, everyone is on the same page. They all really, really, want it.
Now impart that desire to the players and there might be hope.

He played on every line, including a few cameos on the ball across 14 games and never played more than 3 games in a rows.
His 2 worst efforts were 9 possessions games and his 2 best were 21 and 19. He was very consistent in the other 10 at 13.7ppg. His last 4 averaged just under 18ppg.
While that is rather average in terms of VFA, its quite an impressive first 14 senior games from an elite sprinter who has grown up on the game but only taken it serious for 18 Covid effected months prior.
Long way to go? I'm not so sure.

Perhaps Higgins and Gresham could rotate through the middle and rest up forward.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Sat 26 Nov 2022 11:32am Higgins on his day, like Gresham are match winners. Disappointing that Peris wasn't in the Grand Final sprint, surely he's quicker than Hill.B.M wrote: ↑Sun 27 Nov 2022 9:08pm Peris averaged around 10 ppg in the VFL playing wing and HB
