Small forwards are role players, if the get 10 possessions kick 1-2 goals, lay 3 or 4 tackles - they have done their job
How many small forwards have won B&Fs?
Melbourne won a premiership with Spargo and Neale Bullen
Richmond with Aarts and Castagna
Jade Gresham

Re: Jade Gresham
They all have a wingman that they train in unison for set plays, can you name their wingman, I believe each club as different names for the combo but essentially the partnership works the in a similar way. Dustys wingman retired this year.

Re: Jade Gresham
What is deferent about the 2018 Gresham now?
Did he really kick 30 odd goals as a small forward and part-time on baller.
Higgins and Butler kicked how many?
He is obviously injury prone.
If Higgins can calm down and get it together he could still be good. Misses a lot of getties..with the King on that one
Gresh is good at sharking goals. And by the way, how about Jones as a small forward? Part time mid?
We could have a team like this.
Jones King Gresh
Higgins Sharman Members
Butler Hill McKenzie
Webster Wood Wilkie
Coff Fish Fingers Paton
Marshall steele Crouch
Ross, Battle, Highmore, the next Jason Blake

Re: Jade Gresham
Kane Lambert allowed Dusty to play the way he did
Only time Dusty ever runs towards opposition goals is jogging back to the middle after a goal. His idea of defence was the thing that went around the ground!
The biggest (and best) cheat in the AFL
- he even runs forward when the opposition has the ball

Re: Jade Gresham
I think moving Gresham to a full time small forward role would be a good move for him and the club. If we can get a full season out of him we will be a much better side. We will have a number of players who go through the midfield to save Gresham, but I would still use him on occasions particularly if he is struggling forward.
Midfielders: Steele, Crouch, Ross, Sinclair, Jones, Clark, Windhager, Owens, Byrnes, Bytel, this years draft picks and possibly Stocker.
Wingman: Hill, Wanganeen-Milera, McKenzie, Wood possibly Peris.

Re: Jade Gresham
Problem is
Gresham is perhaps our most dynamic stoppage and CB player
He, unlike our other mids except Zak Jones explodes from stoppage
He is clearly a burst player, as he doesn’t have an engine or a defensive bone in his body!
Also
I don’t get this idea that playing in certain positions protects a player from injury.
You can get injured in any contest, in any part of the ground in every aspect.
Forwards are explosive and have a defender hanging off them - so it could be argued they are at greater risk than the aerobic beasts covering the whole ground?

Re: Jade Gresham
Thats exactly why I would move Sinclair to the midfield. Gresham might be explosive but his use of the ball out of the centre is ordinary. Sinclair gives that assured ball use.

Doesn’t moving Sinclair from a position he won a B&F and was AA
A little strange?
Not every good player has to be in the midfield

Re: Jade Gresham
Gresham needs to be used like Papley. A forward who occasionally goes to the center bounces and attacks the ball dangerously with no real care about his opponent

I don't know...As a forward....Paddy concussed everytime a stiff breeze blew...chuck him into defense he literally crashes packs leading with his head.
