Re: Ethan Phillips
I mentioned in another post that some have the 10th best player in the draft is Jedd busslinger or something like that. He is the best defender in the draft apparently. He will fill a hole in relation to not having enough developing key defenders. As we are not in a premiership window he wouldn’t be a bad pick. Fast forward two or three years our mid should be solid assuming we keep and develop our young mids especially nwm and he could be the missing link to our success

Re: Ethan Phillips
Jedd Gunslinger has been getting a lot of press lately. if the Weagles were hoping the WA prospect would still be available for their pick 12 then they might have to have a rethink.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Fri 04 Nov 2022 9:45am I mentioned in another post that some have the 10th best player in the draft is Jedd busslinger or something like that. Re: Ethan Phillips
If we could get Phillips at pick #47 in the draft it would be a win.
But where does our other potential key forward come from? At some stage the club need to find another preferably key forward/ruckman as a back up? There were plenty of the above who got state combine invites, but they all appear very much project types? Hopefully our recruitment team can identify one from somewhere?

Re: Ethan Phillips
No one named Ethan has ever been a good AFL player. Ethans are actors. We need Maxs, Marcuss', Joels, Josh's, maybe a Kendrick....Jacks were popular, another Nasiah perhaps.

Isaac Keeler - forward/ ruck would be ideal for us.

Re: Ethan Phillips
We would be picking him based on potential, but he does offer traits not many other talls that size do. He is like Heath with his combativeness at ground level.Saintmike65 wrote: ↑Sun 06 Nov 2022 7:27amSt Plugger wrote: ↑Sat 29 Oct 2022 10:21pmNah , more importantly, I'd like to use that pick on a potential Ruck/forward to support ROMA!

I thought we were chasing mids?

Interesting prospect.
From what I have read some watchers of the junior system see him as a top 10 talent who has not been developed yet where others don't see him in the top #30.
198cm 88kg forward ruck.
Athletic but laconic and not physical (as yet) from what is posted on line.
Our 2nd or 3rd pick?

Re: Ethan Phillips
I think we will go best available with our first two picks which will be 2 x midfielders. Then we will look to build our tall stocks with the following two picks.
Having watched James Van Es highlights a couple of times I wouldnt be disappointed if we took him over Phillips. I believe Van Es has a higher ceiling.
Another tall this one a forward who Twomey suggests is getting late attention is Jovan Petric. Who is 196cms with a huge frame and looks someone who has the potential to be a really powerful marking forward. Pheonix Foster is another tall forward who is worth keeping an eye on at pick #47.
