Cam McKenzie
According to AFL site the present draft order has Cam around the pick 10 which is around our pick . I don't know a lot about him but I believe he is an academy player & would be fitting choice if the stars aligned . Very interested to hear what other Saintsationalist's think

Re: Cam McKenzie
Love the idea of taking locals - if they are rated around that pick
So
It’s a yes from me
I also think we should have taken Sinn last season

Re: Cam McKenzie
Never seen him play except highlights.
Positives, NGA so should comfortable around the club. Local so should settle well.
Good size, quick and by reports a good user.
Pure mid.
Ticks all the boxes so if he is rated top 10 talent it’s a no brainer to get him.

Re: Cam McKenzie
Cam is a safe bet but Phillipou and Humphrey have potential star power that we need..doubt we’ll rise in the draft order for our first pick but can see us using picks 27 & 32 to move up to late teens.

Re: Cam McKenzie
From what I have read and seen
Mackenzie is very good at most things but not elite.
He has shot in the draft boards in a week draft.
As others have said Phillipou and Humphrey are riskier but have elite attributes.
Reckon Humphrey will be gone by our pick.

Should be able to take with a handful of late rubbish picks if the AFL didn’t change the rules.

Spending all that time at the club but yet doesn't consider himself a saints supporter.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Mon 31 Oct 2022 7:29am Positives, NGA so should comfortable around the club. Local so should settle well.

Re: Cam McKenzie
Why would he?
He obviously grew up a supporter of a different club
What does that matter?

The only people that seem to care about who a player barracked for are the supporters.ausfatcat wrote: ↑Tue 01 Nov 2022 11:19amSpending all that time at the club but yet doesn't consider himself a saints supporter.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Mon 31 Oct 2022 7:29am Positives, NGA so should comfortable around the club. Pretty sure Roo, Lenny, BJ and probably most of our other former champs didn’t grow up barracking for the Saints.

Re: Cam McKenzie
Lenny grew up a Sydney supporter
They could’ve taken him at pick 4
Instead they took StK supporter Jude Bolton

Re: Cam McKenzie
Not fussed about that at all, but most people will barrack for a team they have had the most exposure to, seeming he has spent so much time around the saints but isn't a support raises questions to me.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Tue 01 Nov 2022 1:24pm

Why? I’m sure he had his team chosen before any StKilda action took effect.

Re: Cam McKenzie
Pretty sure they had 3 top ten picks that year and took Fitzgerald (big brother),Fosdyk & Bolton from memory not taking local Hayes who we took at 11.
Apparently we wanted Bolton who ironically was a Saints supporter.
Hayes worked out ok for us and Bolton for them.
The other two, as Borat would say…. Not so much.

Re: Cam McKenzie
Looking at his highlights, he seems to weight the ball nicely to a leading forward.
His kicking style is a little bit of a chipping delivery than it is a bullet. Not as much as Bytels or Highmores.
Seems to lower the eyes well and wants to make his disposals as telling as possible.
Seems like a very good option at pick 10

Re: Cam McKenzie
Read in another mock draft that Jedd busslinger is who we will take if available. From wa so go home factor is there but best back in draft I think. Makes sense as we have that whole to fill as well

Re: Cam McKenzie
You NEVER draft to ‘fill a hole’
Drafting 18yos often has little impact on a current list
You draft them as 12+ year players… if you are drafting them on a position required for the now… you are a fool!
McCartin was drafted to replace Reiwoldt
Nick played for another 4 seasons
McCartin played 30 games and ended up a defender
Rule is simple
Draft best player available within the first 2 rounds

Re: Cam McKenzie
Ill forgive the fact that he is an Essendon supporter and would gleefully take McKenzie. I will be disappointed if he doesnt get through to us, but as long as we get one of Tsatas, Phillipou or Holland's Ill be happy.
