I think he will love Butler, his forward pressure will be very highly regarded. His new Andrew Mcqualter. Higgins, on the other hand will need to do more

Butler has significantly more polish than McQualter.BringBackMadDog wrote: ↑Mon 24 Oct 2022 7:49pm I think he will love Butler, his forward pressure will be very highly regarded. His new Andrew Mcqualter. Higgins, on the other hand will need to do more
McQualter was an honest toiler, but quite one-dimensional.

Ross Lyon is basically like a testosterone injection for the team.
Watch the boys become men under Ross.
Will be great for Max and his brother when he comes to us in 2024

Pity that Ben Long moved on. He is one player that would have grown under Lyon. He could see that the club wasn't getting anywhere and there were few chances/changes that would give him more games, so he looked elsewhere. Then 'POW" the earth moves on its axis and Lyon is at the helm.

Mcqualter had exquisite skills, one of the best kicks in the side.SydneySainter wrote: ↑Mon 24 Oct 2022 8:36pmButler has significantly more polish than McQualter.BringBackMadDog wrote: ↑Mon 24 Oct 2022 7:49pm I think he will love Butler, his forward pressure will be very highly regarded. Re: Players Ross will love
I appreciate that Windhager has played and will play more games as a midfield tagger. I hope Lyon identifies the moment to let him become his own midfielder.
If we land MacKenzie (which we should), then the future of our midfield is looking quite strong with Owens and NWM. A bonus would be Bytel announcing himself as best 22.

Re: Players Ross will love
Ross is on the record as to how he couldn't understand why Hill wasn't playing on the wing given that's what we recruited him for. Hill played his best under Ross on the wing so I'd say that he'd be more relieved than nervous.
A few of Ross' favourite's IMO: Dougs, Hill, Windy, Jones, and D-Mac

I think Ross will will love D-Mac.
A player who gives 100%, 100% of the time.
I also think D-Mac will flourish under Ross too

The real question is …. Who will be the Troy Schwarze of this lot?

That’s so funny… I was just thinking of starting a thread in this but thought better of it.IluvHarvey wrote: ↑Tue 25 Oct 2022 1:51pm The real question is …. Who will be the Troy Schwarze of this lot?
But…
Jones
Billings
Clark
Have been promising to reach peak fitness for years
I’d hate to be one of them and show up to the first training lagging behind the group

Re: Players Ross will love
Players Ross will love =
1) New team leaders - (we desperately need 'em) , they will emerge*, they may not even know it about themselves yet.
2) Alsorans that make a pledge to fill a roll
*caveat
If Ross the Boss changes into a marshmallow of consensus and outsources to sub-committees, all bets are off.

You could've just titled this group "Our only players who deliver consistent AFL standard effort".

Windy got over 20 touches (exact number I can't recall)
and the champ Neale got under 16?
A tagger doesn't normally get a lot of ball but restricts the tagee
A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

I like to think that Neale went to tag Windy and restricted him to an impressive 21 touches while racking up 16 of his ownWellardSaint wrote: ↑Tue 25 Oct 2022 2:42pmThe famous game vs Brissie,Ghost Like wrote: ↑Tue 25 Oct 2022 12:42pm I appreciate that Windhager has played and will play more games as a midfield tagger. They say as a stkilda player you are born twice. First as a baby, then as a player under Ross Lyon.
Some wills are going to be tested.

I think Billings, Clark and Seb are the players who have never pushed themselves hard to be elite and need a Ross rocket

Re: Players Ross will love
Here’s one from left field. I think big Tom Campbell will thrive given the way he gives 100% and throws his body around. He will play his role. It’ll also allow Lyon to play two big talls in the forward line (King and resting ruck). I would play Battle as the third tall and Membrey as the 4th tall but with a licence to move up and down the wing.
