Re: Rob Harvey Assist Coach
Geez, I hope this all ends well.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

I love Banger, but I'm not sure forward craft is his forte?
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Re: Rob Harvey Assist Coach
Look I'm not up with all the experts on here ..miles away ..but I'd want a mids coach like Harvey being in control of the forwards ..Ball up win it out of the centre kick it to a forward ..I don't believe we need forward coaches the mid coach and the forward coach should be the same thing it's a wholistic approach they ain't seperate they are part of the one thing .Bruce G McAbee wrote: ↑Mon 24 Oct 2022 10:10pm I love Banger, but I'm not sure forward craft is his forte?

I think I read somewhere that Banger recently resigned from Hawthorn.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Mon 24 Oct 2022 11:40pm Hawks news on AFL App

Gehrig emerged from scans yesterday saying he was "as sweet as a bun"

He might take up the job if it was offeredWaltzing St Kilda wrote: ↑Mon 24 Oct 2022 10:42pm Sam Fisher is returning as recreation coordinator.
As far as the new Saints new Dream team....
Allan Jeans, Cowboy Neale, Robert Murray, Morrow, Smith and Baldock were first choice... but a few guys weren't answering their phone

Re: Rob Harvey Assist Coach
I love Rob Harvey the player. I'm not sure about him as a coach. Does Ross want him because of his coaching skills or because he is an all time Saints Legend?
I'm not against him coming home but need to know more.

Re: Rob Harvey Assist Coach
Reality is that Harvey’s been around in coaching circles for more than 10 years at this point.
Done a few stints with us, was at Collingwood, Hawthorn, I think he was at Carlton at one point…
He doesn’t have a particularly strong reputation one way or the other but the consensus seems to be that he’s well liked at the places he works with no indication of any difficulties.
The biggest criticism has always been about his outward charisma and whether he has the presence for a main coaching job but that seems more like a fan perception than anything else.
Seems like a fairly worthy addition to the team.
The PR aspect of it certainly has its own story time appeal but it doesn’t really meaning anything though apparently it has reduced ethical quandaries for some

Re: Rob Harvey Assist Coach
The bloke is a club legend his training regime as a player was nothing short of outstanding, put loyalty & achievement on top of that & you have a champion . If nothing else he could just show our current list what personal sacrifices can do to make you a better player . I might be biased but I could not think of a better mentor to follow

Re: Rob Harvey Assist Coach
The players need coaching
At that level
They are either elite in preparing or not … having a coach that used to be elite has little to do with anything.
The biggest misnomer in footy
A coach can make his player more like him
Eg
A.Hamill will make players tough
T.Lockett will make players kick straight
S.Loewe can make players mark better
R.Harvey can make players train harder
Coaches give players a framework so they can make decisions about how and why they need to get better
But reality is, the players have got to want it- and are willing to sacrifice to achieve it!!!
Not all of them are - and to be perfectly blunt - most of the time it’s innate (competitiveness) and can’t be manufactured
R.Harvey made himself great! Lenny did! Roo did!!!
They were champions in preparation and had elite talent
