Jack Hayes

Post: # 1985738Post B.M »

Photos of him on the website are exactly what I want to see from a professional footballer!

Last year he came in as a semi pro and his body was as such, too heavy, chunky in a McGovern way. He looked as though he could play, but physically he looked a state league or suburban player.

He now looks leaner, more defined, stronger and like an elite sportsman!

Clark and Hill should take note!
There is no way an elite pro should have a gut, or carry excess weight. Get fkn serious and get to work would be my advice to them!

It’s not about getting in the gym and getting bigger (and slower) in fact the opposite. They (and others) need to get fitter and stronger! Lose excess weight, and get a lean, AFL body!

Max needs to get much stronger, four years in the gym and he’s still weak as piss, and is like a baby dear!

WTF is this bloody fitness guy doing?! Get the fkn athletes prepared and in shape!!!!

I’m excited about Hayes

If he can build on his early promise and hold down the position of CHF and relief ruck which was encouraging pre-injury…
Well, already we’re a much better side

Glad to read that it looks like he’s doing the work

Yeah the photos of Hunter Clark are a worry. No wonder he isn’t progressing

Interesting comments on Jack.

Was introduced to him recently.

Extremely lean, looks taller up close than 194.
Very, very hungry to make it and polite respectful young guy. He will leave no stone unturned to give it his best shot.

Will come back from his knee full on as he has no choice.

Would love him to make it, he deserves his opportunity. If he doesn’t it won’t be through lack of effort or attitude.

How many games has he played?

Maybe we shouldn’t get too far ahead of ourselves.

I was stunned by his contract.
I thought, uh-oh, another ‘good bloke’ contract for St Kilda.

He played one great game. That is it!

Anyway, hope he kills it and if he’s in good shape, brilliant.

Go get ‘em Jack.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Not about that

It’s about how the players present themselves as professional footballers

If he never plays another AFL game - at least he has given himself every chance!

Clark and Hill do not prepare at the level required!

Billings and Gresham are not good enough runners to be consistent at the level.

Hard work beats talent, if talent doesn’t work hard!

Go into the club’s saints.com site or go into the Saints App and click on Photo or Gallery. The photos were posted on 21 October.

Coffield looks the most defined & chiseled I’ve seen. Even tho he had improved his body def last pre-season he still had more work to go IMO. Looks like he’s worked harder.
Coff’s even lost that chubby look in his cheeks. There is an actual jaw line present now. That also indicates he’s been training hard & following correct diet. Maybe having Hayes to work with through rehab has assisted him & matured him in his approach.

They were running out games last season a lot better than 2021.

The fitness guy can only do so much if the individual will not push to the limit of exhaustion.

I was doing the same 45 class as Peter Wright in last year at GCS and the Penny had dropped for him.

He was doing two classes starting at 4:45am plus personal strength training on top of his club training.

He knew he was leaving, he knew he had to be stronger and tougher and crash the packs to make a fresh start.

I remember coming on here hoping we’d take him but alas he landed at the druggies.

I believe Hill has been less than elite and Clark needs to be pushed to a new level, but that is merely a supporters view.

He seems the type of guy who thinks I been given a chance in the big league and is going to give it eveything to make it.Remember he has good credits from his SA footy.Key forward/Ruck even key back is what we were really missing last year,Battle,Lienert relief ruck just doesnt cut it,on occasions yes over a period of games no

Plays taller though and loves a contest. Quite a physical player from what I’ve seen.

I don’t expect him to be a superstar, but if he can hold down chf/second ruck will be a welcome addition. He reminds me a bit of Jason Blake, an underrated player of that successful era

It was good to see Clark in the gym early but gee whiz he looked ordinary. Never noticed it properly and I guess the much publicised questions on his work rate made me look twice, but he is carrying a gut and is physically undersized for someone in the system for 5+ years. Mart is right, talent only gets you so far and Clark wreaks of a player who is blessed with talent but hasn’t flicked the switch on the work rate required for an elite sportsman

To be fair he's been OS on hols; thought he was going to North and wanted to fit right in.
Whole turn of events would have caught him out.
Fortunately they don't come back officially for a month. Not going to feature in the time trial but is going to be busy. Calling personal trainers?

'Revelation' based on one game!

Where he was an unknown.

I watched Sharman get pillared on this forum last year. He also kicked a bag in one game...and then continued on for a while, kicking more. Hayes hasn't even done that. (yet)

Not knocking him, but we gotta let go of the good bloke-has a crack fella-mentality (sign him up, let him go) if we are gonna be competitive. Now he has one decent game on the books, his first, where he was an unknown quantity. Let's see what happens next. I have no idea...If he is super fit bravo, cos he looked a bit slow in the practice games last season.

Hayes and Battle are the same height and the same weight.

Both under-sized for key positions.

True, but both have got a fair bit of grit and determination in their character that makes them "grow tall", which overcomes the couple of centimetres they lack physically!
