Delisted player targets
Just getting off the coaching saga for a moment..it will be interesting to see who we target as delisted free agents.
I think we should look at Stocker, Stack and Narkle, not necessarily in that order.
I particularly like Stack, as I feel he would be an upgraded version of Ben Long.
He is tough and can play in different positions, also young…yes he’s had a couple of indiscretions but well worth a punt.
Stocker is strong and tough, Narkle skilled and should be hungry to play regularly at senior level.

You'd hope we would at one of them.
Stocker or Stack might be a handy project

Stocker has some interest
Narkle great ball winner poor going the other has no defensive side.

Not wanting to make this thread about Ross Lyon but.....
If we got him, then I'd be comfortable taking Stack.

Re: Delisted player targets
Stack and Narkle are flashy players who promise a lot, look good with ball in hand but don't do the hard yards, and I would rather put time into young players rather than discards.

I’ve said it before in another thread and I’ll say it again
Oskar Bakker from Melbourne is quick, Stocker is slow
And just could not break into a very good Melbourne side
Definitely worth a look

Eas Stack the player who had some nightclub trouble on the Gold Coast or am I thinking of someone else?
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Why would you pick up someone else's rubbish?

Re: Delisted player targets
Stack has the talent, undoubtedly. He could be best 22 at every club at his best.
I don't know him personally so can't speak to his personality but he's clearly an unreliable prospect. Someone WILL punt on him, however. He's just got too much talent to overlook and the Stengle experiment will have emboldened others to have a go. Can we drag him along? I don't know - but would definitely feel more comfortable taking him knowing Ross Lyon will be in charge.
Personally, I'd go for Narkle - he's got a little of everything and could well be something. Two-year deal, definitely.
Stocker is too good not to be at AFL level and will find a home somewhere.

Poulter delisted from the pies today. Couldn’t believe it. He was just about there best first year player in 2021. Several clubs supposedly interested.

I remember some on here were saying we had to have grabbed him before Allison.

Re: Delisted player targets
The reason I went for Stocker, Narkle & Stack is age demographic..that 22 to 24 bracket!
Poulter would potentially fit the bill also, as I only read about his delisting after my post.
In my reckoning we have a couple of list spots to fill aside from our 4 draft selections.

Every Geelong supporter says the same things about Narkle- Has ability but lazy, never been fit and wont do the defensive things (hence why he didnt get games)
Stack - shown the most at AFL level but question how committed he is to the game and what is required.
Remember there is a reason they have been let go . Rather see us invest in draft or mature age SANFL / VFL players who were overlooked in draft but needed perhaps a year or 2 playing men to develop . Remember being eligible for the draft you may be 11 months younger than some of the other guys.

Re: Delisted player targets
Fair enough. I didn’t see enough of him this past season in the VFL to comment. Although I thought he was pretty good in a poor side in the games I watched in 2021.CURLY wrote: ↑Tue 18 Oct 2022 3:05pmHe is no good he is a crabBrunswicksainter wrote: ↑Tue 18 Oct 2022 3:01pm Poulter delisted from the pies today. Re: Delisted player targets
We need to find another tall forward/ruckman from somewhere? I dont think they are any suitable as DFA, so I dont know where Gallagher finds that player? Any ideas???

Marshall and Hayes should do it with Tom Campbell as back up and Max Heath available alsoImpatient Sainter wrote: ↑Tue 18 Oct 2022 6:29pm We need to find another tall forward/ruckman from somewhere? If we are desperate in game and there are injuries we have Battle and Mason Wood who have both filled in for small bursts
Heath got a contract extension this year https://aflratings.com.au/2022/07/07/co ... max-heath/

Re: Delisted player targets
I doubt Heath will be ready next year and its a huge ask of Hayes coming back from an ACL to be expected to play as an under sized 2nd ruckman. Thats why we tried to get Weideman or Schache in during the trade week?
A 20yo Kaelan Bradtke 196cm who plays forward/ruck might be an option, also Tyreece Leiu 194cm key position another.
