BJ for assistant coach

Post: # 1984685Post Bruce G McAbee »

Apparently BJ has put his hand up for an assistant coach job should Ross Lyon get the head coach job.
I wouldn't be against this.

Think of me long enough to make a memory.

How does any assistant coach get their first gig if they have no experience?

BTW
Didn’t he coach StKevins to a premiership this season?

And 300+ AFL games is a little bit of experience

Its the first time he has shown interest in the club for years, which is understandable with how Pelchen & co forced him out. If he does join as an assistant we will have plenty of players pointing and complaining at others. Howard will love him!

I'd be for it.
Lenny, BJ, Ross....drive standards and intelligent strategy.
Maybe Roo would take an interest in coaching forwards?

Imagine being a current player while this whole malarkey is playing out in the press. All the old guard wanna come back etc.
talk about pressure.
Lyon, Roo, Milney, BJ. all huge names being bandied around.

Even just Lyon on his own. Imagine a senior player like say a Tim Membrey ..how would he be going right now? You can’t help but wonder a little.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Goddard considers himself a Bombers person, he has stated this publicly on numerous occassions when asked! Don't want him back now , he can piss off as far as I am concerned..

I imagine he's excited about the prospect of Lyon finding him a position rather than having him cover every spot except the ruck.

All this just reminds me of Carlton from 2000-2021. Filling every position with favourite sons just to appease the faithful. But at least their favourite sons knew what success tasted like.

I bet he'd like to take those comments back now that this is all happening! He should put his hand up to go and coach them instead.

Why would anyone even consider this Essendon flog as a Saints assistant is beyond me, he was a free wheeler who was never any good at being accountable for an oppo player, he used to tell his team mates, F*** that, then point at a teammate and say, he's yours, and then berate the poor dude if Brendan's opponent scored a goal, that equates to the Goddard flog won't be an assistant coaches anus, or that's all he could be.

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Yeah, he wasn’t the most accountable player on the field, but Nick Riewoldt had his moments also he was the captain.

I do agree though that BJ never struck me as a leader. Maybe he’s matured with age, but he wasn’t a player I ever envisioned as a coach.
