Get Cripps.( Gallagher Poor)
Like everyone on here I was glued to trade radio and was listening for some news if any about potential trades or trading of picks to get higher up in the draft order, but unfortunately nothing was reported. I believe Gallagher and the club fell asleep at the wheel here, all I heard our list boss talk about after the trade period was, we will be ok because a lot of our senior players missed games last yr and they will be back! Fairdinkum we didn't even participate any pick swaps! Brisbane was crying out for later picks with their points needed for Ashcroft and Fletcher and even traded out there pick 15 for later picks with a second coming back by memory. Where were we when this was happening? Geelong,Tigers,Lions and even Pies had better yrs then us and yet were proactive in improving their lists and draft hand. We were Bloody poor during Trade Period!!

Non participation in trade week is a valid option.
Remember all clubs are out to make gains, and not all clubs are going to win. Better to not play than to lose.

Re: Get Cripps.( Gallagher Poor)
Again… same question as before.
It’s one thing to say do something, but another to be more specific as to where you think they dropped the ball and what they should have done
No one answers the second set of questions

Re: Get Cripps.( Gallagher Poor)
Last time we were super active in trade week
We played finals and were the big improvers
All players played significant roles
Only be inactive in trade week if you are satisfied with the list, surely the f*** we are not?!
Gallagher = massive fail this off season

Re: Get Cripps.( Gallagher Poor)
Sam Weideman or Josh Shache for FA
Paddy Dow made a big play
Bowes and 7 - should have been in that up to our eyeballs
Plenty of Bargains there, which other clubs got
And not sure why we couldn’t net a 800k player since Hannebery retired?
Fkn hopeless

Re: Get Cripps.( Gallagher Poor)
Gallagher is very good. None of the criticisms above stand scrutiny.
I know when you take an ideological stance using facts contrary to your argument can be inconvenient, but how about a passing nod to the three draftees he managed to secure last year; Windhager, NWM and Owens are not too dusty and Hayes seems rather good. A premiership tall that can play forward or back, rarely out injured: what, you just pffft that while suggesting Bowes is a player worth $800k. Geelong don't want Bowes and have an aging group. They bought pick 7, the great raffle ticket.
Weideman and Schake are duds on the form from several campaigns. Dow is not up to standard.
Not sure what $800k player is being referenced. You could be right there. Who was he? Not Bowes? do you mean we should be paying Bowes $800k. Jimmy Webster might be miffed having to clean up after him all the time on the half back line and be paid half that.

How many flags have Port won since Cripps has been their list manager?

Re: Get Cripps.( Gallagher Poor)
So I presume these players wanted to come to the saints but we just didn’t try? It’s easy to say we should have got players. If they are not willing it isn’t possible. Bulldogs, dees and cats are more attractive options at the moment. Hopefully that is one of the things being addressed in the review outcomes.

Re: Get Cripps.( Gallagher Poor)
Bowes +#7 on offer while Suns wanted B Long and we weren’t in the race to take it.
WTF?
By then they’d (Saints) admitted internally they were not in contention so why not go flat stick at #7 and the potential to draft an elite kid.

Re: Get Cripps.( Gallagher Poor)
Bowes didn’t want to come to us
Weideman or Schache are hardly disasters
Paddy Dow doesn’t transform our trade period from Fkn hopeless to good.
Anything else?

Re: Get Cripps.( Gallagher Poor)
Gallagher wanted to do more but was told to hold this period. He is going back to Adelaide anyway you will find he won’t be holding this position for long and Cripps will be sounded out to come home.

Re: Get Cripps.( Gallagher Poor)
Why can’t we trade in more average, aging talent for the sake of being active during trade week?!?! I want more 6th place finishes! Who needs premierships, depth and long term success?! Give me 6ths!!!

Re: Get Cripps.( Gallagher Poor)
That’s his job
To influence the decisions of those looking to be traded
Because no one wanted to come to us = fail
Sell the fkn club
Geelong, Bowes doesn’t get a game
StK, he will start
Pick 7 & 9 and we are actually doing a little rebuild
Shache and Weideman duds? Maybe…
But they cost nothing, and have a role that suits at StK - supporting Max. Who still hasn’t got support!!!
How did we rate Peter Wright at GC - where he wasn’t getting a game at a bottom club!!!
Now he’s a B&F winner who kicked 50 goals!!!

Re: Get Cripps.( Gallagher Poor)
Gees you go off on some scary tangents BM.
St Kilda is not seen as a destination club, our coaching was obvously questionable, a distinct of lack of 3rd party deals, poor crowd numbers, systemic instability at board level etc.
HTF is Gallagher meant to deal with the above and personally attract players? I am sure Gallagher is constantly asking the questions of players and their managers? The only way we have attracted good players in the past is by paying way over salary wise and that hasnt worked, so rightly so the club has made a conscious decision to go back to the draft.
Its something that I have been banging on about for years, but for financial reasons the club couldnt afford to completely bottom out. Now they are in a position to top up via the draft and when a new coach arrives things may change as to who e can attract. Until then its a whole of club responsibility not just Gaggs.

Re: Get Cripps.( Gallagher Poor)
He is the LIST MANAGER!!!
He and the head of recruiting are in charge of the list build!
Our list is average
He is responsible for that
His performance in this trade period was pathetic- pure and simple!!!

Take it for it is but Tony Browne said that both Gallagher and Rath were also on shaky ground after the review...

Re: Get Cripps.( Gallagher Poor)
They don't cost nothing, they cost salary cap space and list spots, better to take long shot on a draftee than wasting them on no hopers.
Problem with list managers their true worth aint found out for 4 to 5 years down the track.. Personally I am on the fence about our current ones.
