Walk this way Jack Bowes and meet our dead man walking coach Bret Ratten
Not sure why they didn't do this before the trade period....I doubt there would have been an exodus, and didn't seem to effect Norf or Bummers

Re: Ratten sacked
Maybe…..just maybe the turning point.
No more putting up with garbage.
The time of lovey dovey hugs for everyone, try to make everyone happy and social focus is over and we can be a football club again.
Trample toes, scrounge to win.
It’ll bring the crowds back.
People voted with their feet the last 4 home games.
They aren’t stupid, something was clearly wrong and a lot of supporters knew it.

Re: Ratten sacked
There's suggestion only a 6 month payout.
Good move. Courageous move. Had to do it move. Ratts was never going to win us a flag.
New coach will have 4 months to teach the list how to play 2020's footy. I'm excited.

Goddamn it’s hard to be a St Kilda supporter.

Re: Ratten sacked
I don't think they'd take a chance on Harvey, why would Lyon come back?
It would have to be Yze, only a newbie coach would take this on. Smells a lot like what the Bulldogs did when they sacked McCarthy. Walsh is a hatchet man it would seem. Maybe they are thinking burn or prosper.

Re: Ratten sacked
Became apparent during the season that this was the call that needed to be made, still shocked tho that they actually went thru with it. Was expecting another 2 years of mediocrity first!

Re: Ratten sacked
Honest question here.
Do we think he has anything to do with the Hawthorn racism saga?
I know he has not been named publicly previously, while other specific people have been, but the sudden shift smells to me?

Re: Ratten sacked
Wow all we have to do now is find a new coach. With the instablity behind the scenes putting a young first time coach in would be like sending lambs to the slaughter .
Accordingly my preferences in order would be -
1. Ross Lyon
2. Nathan Buckley
3. Justin Lepitch
4. Don Pyke
5. Leon Cameron

Re: Ratten sacked
What are the odds that the next St Kilda coach will be sacked?
Why would anyone take this job on when they know they will be burnt.
The timing of the announcement will only increase speculation St Kilda has already found a replacement for Ratten.
https://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/st-ki ... 7c54aa4bb2
Contenders for the coaching job include St Kilda great Lenny Hayes, departing GWS assistant coach Mark McVeigh and highly-rated Melbourne assistant Adam Yze.
So someone has already accepted. Are the Saints doing a Dockers and we find out tomorrow?

Re: Ratten sacked
Terrible that the club has felt it necessary to sack it’s coach yet again.
I thought Ratten was an ok tactical coach - underrated by many on here - but the second half of the season suggested that he was struggling to get the team up for games.
Was that really because he was too soft on the players? I’m a bit sceptical. But if you appoint reviewers you’ve got to pay some attention to their findings.
