Re: Trade - Draft 2022 Discussion
I would rather Quinton Narkle as a DFA. He can play forward aswell as mid and his kicking is better.

No way pick 9 and Clark who was a pick 7 and a established player north would have to get a pick in the teens for us as well if they wont him play hard ball.

Re: Trade - Draft 2022 Discussion
We have to remember that yes Clark was pick #7, but he was drafted in probably one of the weakest draft years in the past decade. The club probably couldn’t have timed a worse year to have two top 10 picks and a coach desperately wanting supposed midfielders.

It probably was a week draft but don't we hear that every second year I am sure other teams drafted players in that draft as well and they later got traded.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 12 Oct 2022 12:20am We have to remember that yes Clark was pick #7, but he was drafted in probably one of the weakest draft years in the past decade. I don't think north will use the week draft argument when trading.

We should have gone after another KPF like gags said I don't know if any are left as FA or out of contract.
Hartigan might be the option if nothing else transpires.
Nobody wonts him so we should be good to get him in as a delisted player.

Re: Trade - Draft 2022 Discussion
we should trade ick 9, 28 and a future forth for pick 4 off Essendon because of the such big trade window for picks only

Re: Trade - Draft 2022 Discussion
Well, that's trade week done for another year folks. Despite 9 pages of suggestions, slagging-off and slam dunks James Gallagher, the real person in charge of Saints recruiting, held his nerve and the Club did what he said it would. Which was bugger-all.
Long out, exchanged for a second round draft pick a fair result. Cordy coming to us for nothing, a proven tall defender, good result that adds depth.
Now, roll on to the yearling sales, er, nationally draft. Same thing really, every selection is a potential champion and most supporters will be disappointed with their high draft picks. Never mind. For every Hugh Goddard fail from the yearling sales there is a Callum Wilkie waiting to be picked up cheap at the going sales. The buyers just need to thoroughly research ther potential buys and hold their nerve.

Re: Trade - Draft 2022 Discussion
Agreed Trev we can only back the club in. I think we did show interest in a couple of other fringe players but were gazumped or the asking price was too high. We need now to absolutely nail our recruiting and development to make up some ground on those above us.
A good start would be McKenzie or Phillipou at pick #10, perhaps a Binns, Hustwaite, Burgiel, Jones, Jason Gilbee or Dowling at pick #28 & #32 and a tall with our last pick, possibly someone from the following list. https://www.afl.com.au/news/856829/kevi ... ards-rucks
Then add another rookie or two plus a Cat B rookie, then all of a sudden things start to look rosy again!!

Re: Trade - Draft 2022 Discussion
We have four picks in the draft with our third round pick 47 being the last.
Can anyone tell me what happened to our fourth round pick which should be about 66?

There’s something not right as it was a future 4th rounder (2023) that went to Gold Coast for the Long trade.Saintmike65 wrote: ↑Sat 15 Oct 2022 2:19pmOur 4th rounder went to Gold Coast along with Long in exchange for their pick 32longtimesaint wrote: ↑Sat 15 Oct 2022 10:23am We have four picks in the draft with our third round pick 47 being the last.

Can’t be bothered looking, but it would have been traded out last year.longtimesaint wrote: ↑Sat 15 Oct 2022 4:45pmThere’s something not right as it was a future 4th rounder (2023) that went to Gold Coast for the Long trade.Saintmike65 wrote: ↑Sat 15 Oct 2022 2:19pmOur 4th rounder went to Gold Coast along with Long in exchange for their pick 32longtimesaint wrote: ↑Sat 15 Oct 2022 10:23am We have four picks in the draft with our third round pick 47 being the last.

Re: Trade - Draft 2022 Discussion
I think we traded it to Collingwood to get up the draft so we could pick up Oscar Adams the big Defender from South Austarlia as I think Port was after him and they had next pick.

Re: Trade - Draft 2022 Discussion
From Foxfooty-
ST KILDA
Arrivals: Zaine Cordy (free agency/Western Bulldogs)
Departures: Jarryn Geary (retired), Dan Hannebery (retired), Darragh Joyce (delisted), Dean Kent (retired), Jarrod Lienert (delisted), Ben Long (traded/Gold Coast), Josiah Kyle (delisted), Paddy Ryder (retired)
Uncontracted: None
Contracted: 37 (one category B rookie)
Draft picks: 9, 28, 32, 47
The Saints have six list openings, assuming they don’t add a second category B rookie to former Olympic aspirant Jack Peris. They told us their quiet trade period owed to a want to back in the club’s existing youth and bring in more young talent. Four picks in the top 50 at the national draft will go towards that cause as St Kilda prepares for Ross Lyon’s second stint as coach.

Do you think we will use all 6 list spots plus B rookie it would be a good way to get young talent on the list plus some experience as well.
We need all the spots used as we have seen the last few seasons with injury we struggle with depts issues filling all the sports should help that.
There are enough good players around to cover the sports even if we use 1 or 2 for the mid season draft.
