Time for Ratten to lead the way
Plenty of comments about Clark not hitting the gym and not being fit enough yet you only have to look at our Head Coach and I think maybe if he himself hit the gym lost 20-30kg he could set an example for the players and lead the way
Ratten taking the bull by the horns and maybe hitting the gym with the players would set a great example and light a fire, possibly motivate the group and bring the players closer together with at least him and the rest of the coaching group
No doubt Lenny will be a great influence on the players but I reckon Ratten could do a lot better ...... starting with getting fit and presenting himself as a positive example.
Hey Tony ..... if you see him around pass this thought on ..... from the supporters!!

Re: Time for Ratten to lead the way
What a croc of horseshit
There have been a few posters with this same bullshyt theme when we were going poorly but where was the criticism at the start of the year when we were competing for a top 4 spot?
Watch some games from before the bye round.
We were sitting on 8 wins and only 3 losses. He looked exactly the same then …as he does now!
Did Shane Warne not perform when he had a second chin? What about Boony or Tubbsy Taylor?
Ok….so that’s a different sport, but I’m just highlighting professionals in their role.
Did Chris Scott win a premiership as coach because he lost weight?

And grew a beard and long hair.
Is it just me or does this thread feel like it also has the potential to turn a little homo erotic...not that there's anything wrong with that. It just feels like the board has thrown off the shackles these past few days.

Re: Time for Ratten to lead the way
He looks unfit and unhealthy and is the leader of a group young athletes who look up to him for inspiration
The 1st half of the season is a bygone memory - the 2nd half of the season still cuts - and here we were looking to off load one of our young stars apparently cause his fitness levels weren't up to standard and he doesn't put in the extra work
As the Club's prime leader maybe Ratten could do well to look in the mirror himself and get into shape in order to show his players he is willing to make sacrifices himself
We are desperate for inspiration - desperate for leadership - it's these types of actions that the playing group might respond to - seeing that coach is willing to do the hard yards himself ...... what harm would it do?

Chris Scott won a Premiership because Geelong are masters at cooking the books
Ratten just looks like a master at cooking

Re: Time for Ratten to lead the way
Looks like he has… not just the change of haircut and beard that makes him look trim imo
https://www.theroar.com.au/2017/03/30/c ... rt-school/
https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Chris_Scott ... ootballer)
Obviously, Jeremy Cameron, Isaac Smith and Gary Rowan were far more likely to move to Geelong after the senior coach lost weight and changed his hairstyle

Inspiration can come in a variety of ways and as leader you should be willing to explore in order to find that edge
As a young group of athletes looking for inspiration to work harder its pretty important that one they look at for inspiration are themselves adhering to what they are preaching ..... if Ratten took on the challenge to get himself in good shape it might just inspire a few of our young players to work harder given he is the one they look up to and telling them to work harder

Re: Time for Ratten to lead the way
So ….does that mean if your coach leaves his wife or partner you should be motivated to leave yours?
I mean…yeah sure…fitness is vital for professional athletes, but I don’t see how a 50 year old bloke who wants to lose weight is the key to us climbing the ladder

Re: Time for Ratten to lead the way
So it is a thread about homo erotica.
Just when I was prasing our supporters for being tolerant and inclusive here we are fat shaming our head coach. Some people think full figured men are sexy.
Devilhead you need to be more open minded and not judge people on their appearance.

There is one former player, a muscular man mountain who still looks as fit, fast and toned at 75 years of age as he did in his halcyon playing days.Vortex wrote: ↑Thu 13 Oct 2022 9:56am So it is a thread about homo erotica.

Re: Time for Ratten to lead the way
Ratts is a full-time coach, and also has a family.
I wonder where he would find a spare hour or so, 3-4 times a week, to hit the gym.
Not easy

Re: Time for Ratten to lead the way
Clearly then Elle would have made an excellent coach but as much as she loves the Saints chose another path.
Chris Scott's make over took 10 years and a patient board to get the bikkies. I think Ratts maybe only has time for a haircut and a man shake before he needs to get the team firing. Then he can go for fashionable stubble and tailored clothes, lose the trackies.

Ratts will have plenty of time to hit the gym, shave the face, and cut the hair.
He's apparently been cut loose, according to the bald guy from the 3 Stooges
