Re: Essendon New Coach
Is Scott Catholic? If so, Essendon will be hoping the Vatican don't make any controversial comments that require them to sack Scott. After all the Vatican and Thorburn's Church do actually hold the same views, so does the Islamic faith for that matter.

Don't think Brad is on the board of the Catholic Church. The G Train Legacy wrote: ↑Wed 05 Oct 2022 2:43pm Is Scott Catholic? So you think a Board member can change the belief systems of a religious organisation?Life Long Saint wrote: ↑Wed 05 Oct 2022 3:32pmDon't think Brad is on the board of the Catholic Church. The G Train Legacy wrote: ↑Wed 05 Oct 2022 2:43pm Is Scott Catholic? Re: Essendon New Coach
Yet they interviewed and keep testing the waters for a drug cheat to return.
The Premier of Victoria says he’s a catholic but he didn’t hesitate to make an opportunistic comment. Perhaps he should either condemn Catholicism or consider resigning given the catholic church’s views on homosexuality and abortion.
Thorburn is no angel either. The Banking Royal Commission exposed his dodgy practices running the NAB. like charging dead people fees. Essendon boasted that they'd snared an ASX100 CEO. His past record was there for all to see.
We live in the age of rancid hypocrisy.

Do you honestly believe that if you claim to follow a religion you have to 100% agree with all their beliefs? Or are you using this to have a political dig?

He was given a choice between the values of his church and the values of the footy club.
He chose the church.

I hope so, because I'd love to see more pain heaped on Essendon. The G Train Legacy wrote: ↑Wed 05 Oct 2022 7:44pmThe choice given was actually illegal.Life Long Saint wrote: ↑Wed 05 Oct 2022 7:35pmNo, of course not.The G Train Legacy wrote: ↑Wed 05 Oct 2022 5:44pmSo you think a Board member can change the belief systems of a religious organisation?Life Long Saint wrote: ↑Wed 05 Oct 2022 3:32pmDon't think Brad is on the board of the Catholic Church. The G Train Legacy wrote: ↑Wed 05 Oct 2022 2:43pm Is Scott Catholic? Who says Thornborrow agreed 100% with all his organisation's beliefs? In fact I believe he said he didn't.IluvHarvey wrote: ↑Wed 05 Oct 2022 7:09pmDo you honestly believe that if you claim to follow a religion you have to 100% agree with all their beliefs? Merely highlighting the double standards and that Andrews should remove the plank out of his own eye as the verse goes.
You made it political by highlighting only one part of my post.

These blokes/institutions who have spent their whole life discriminating against people/groups always cry the sky is falling at the first sign of inconvenience for them.

Yeah he did and the mongrel brother and that see you next tuesday mal michael attacked Rooey when he broke his collarbone. Pair of arseclowns.
The AFL will be much better off when both "Kray" twins are long gone.

Re: Essendon New Coach
Leigh Matthews said many years ago that Brad Scott stood out from the rest of his team as the player most likely to coach - far more so than his brother. And, he was the first player from that 3-peat team to go into coaching. Alas for him, North was the only team available in 2010. He was there for a decade (2010-2019) and had a 50% W-L ratio for 4 finals appearances. His brother took on Geelong in 2011 - when Mark Thompson "unexpectantly" resigned. We found out in later years why, but few knew it at the time.
If Brad Scott has a decade at Essendon, you can expect a number of finals appearances. It will become a "destination" club, unlike us which is a "get away from" club. A few great players (about 6) with the rest a bunch of losers, mimicking the competence and leadership from the Board down. The only way anyone on our list will play in a premiership is to leave the club. It is unlikely that the club will see finals in the next decade. The best thing we can do player wise is to be really bad for 5 years, but that will destroy the already fragile finances. Other than North, no club is a worse position.

The AFL system is such that poor clubs like ours and North can only follow the Melbourne model and become a basket case over a sustained period before the AFL are compelled to step in and provide rescue assistance.
