Sorry, brain fade, Blake Acres.Bruce G McAbee wrote: ↑Tue 04 Oct 2022 2:51pm Jason Blake has been traded to Carlton.
Does anyone think we should tried to get him back?
For a future 3rd round pick, I would have said yes.

Adding Blake to the Blues midfield is a massive leg up for them especially if he can consistently deliver some of his best form from this season. Makes their midfield a scary proposition if that happens.Bruce G McAbee wrote: ↑Tue 04 Oct 2022 2:55pmSorry, brain fade, Blake Acres.Bruce G McAbee wrote: ↑Tue 04 Oct 2022 2:51pm Jason Blake has been traded to Carlton.

It sure is a massive leg up and another reason Carlton have and will continue to surpass us.Vortex wrote: ↑Tue 04 Oct 2022 3:18pmAdding Blake to the Blues midfield is a massive leg up for them especially if he can consistently deliver some of his best form from this season. Blake should still be at our club and disappointing to see him now go to Carlton. He is better than a number of others on our list.
This trade further symbolizes how much we've lost our way.

Nope Carlisle and gresh for Francis. Also we dwould have drafted Francis is we kept the pick, he was our man and list managers publicly stated to this effect.Lennylegs wrote: ↑Tue 04 Oct 2022 12:49pmWasn't that Carlisle and Gresh vs Parish? Saints: Higgins & Allison 2020
Points toward academy players in 2021
Traded picks: Max Holes & Judson Clarke drafted
It all gets down to how you use your picks on whether you win, lose, break even.
Carslile & Gresham V Francis
We may well have used the pick on Allison anyway.
Happily stand corrected, though. Sort of hoping I'm wrong.

With multiple bonafide superstars on every line they have finally put together a quality list build capable of becoming a sustained top 4 side for the next 10 years and Jonny come lately aka Voss will end up looking like a mega coach.saintkid wrote: ↑Tue 04 Oct 2022 3:30pmIt sure is a massive leg up and another reason Carlton have and will continue to surpass us.Vortex wrote: ↑Tue 04 Oct 2022 3:18pmAdding Blake to the Blues midfield is a massive leg up for them especially if he can consistently deliver some of his best form from this season. We're desperate for some big bodied players with a bit talent. Acres may not be a superstar but he adds to their talent pool well, no doubt about it.
I just feel this club has lost it's way too much.
Paying a bloke like Hill mega $$ to tread water just causes dissent among the rest of the list.
Does he really care? I doubt it. He's already tasted success and history will remember him as a Hawks premiership player, not for his time at the dumb club that fed his massive retirement Superfund.
Badly burnt by the ridiculous Hannebery decision and still being burnt now with Hill who plays as if he is going through the motions.

Haha, awesome. Happy to be corrected. My mind is a fuzz of average St Kilda trades. Our pick #5 (traded for Carlisle) slipped one spot to #6 and was used by Essendope to take Francis.
They used their existing pick #4 (which slipped to #5) to select Parish.
Francis now asking to be traded to Sydney.

Definitely a yes from me, for a future 3rd round pick, but depending on his salary expectations. I'd be reluctant to pay more than $400k-$450kVortex wrote: ↑Tue 04 Oct 2022 3:18pmAdding Blake to the Blues midfield is a massive leg up for them especially if he can consistently deliver some of his best form from this season. He always showed potential at St Kilda but seemed to be constantly out of favor with the coaches and selectors. I thought he had an excellent year at Freo, and I'm surprised they let him go s cheap.
Is there something about Acres that coaches don't like?

Acres teased at Fremantle and broke down regularly.
At one point Fremantle offered him a base pay two year contract. They later revised their offer, but it shows that they had cottoned on.
This is similar to the Clarke trade that Vossy did at Brisbane. He loves his “couldabeenanything” with injury prone players. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

Did anyone see we are apparently chasing Zayne Cordy?
Nothing against him personally at all, but I want us to chase someone exciting. Where are OUR big fish??

What’s that say about our list….or that doesn’t suit your narrative??
Maybe our list isn’t that bad but the arse fell out of the season for other reasons???
Lots of good lists also fail to live up to the hype - see GWS recent years
Decent coaching/football program around good list …now that can make a difference
But alas ..we have cuddles..
Let’s hope Walsh adds some backbone and strategy to our coaching /game plan approach…I read that’s in his remit…wonder why?

Re: Official AFL trade week thread
The first thing I would do is challenge Cordy to get a lot stronger & fitter. He is quite a good kick and spoiler, if he can start holding his own in one on one contests he might become a decent defender.

Apparently we were the last team to beat the Cats, what's your irrelevant point.
Keep within your flags Teffers and tell us who our next coach is and what's wrong with his game plan.

Possibly the worst regular senior player in the AFL
He is the very reason why the bulldogs were so susceptible down back
Truly awful player
